Easy assembly (except for the start finish flag-still don't know how to put that together). This reminds me of the slot car sets I had as a kid. A really simple toy but one that can entertain even a big kid. What I think most reviewers don't understand is that this is a finesse toy that you actually have to think about playing with, slow down on the corners accelerate into the straight shots.Lights only seem to work when car gets stuck at lap marker. But as the other reviews state the cars will fly off if you just gun the throttle full time. This is a difficult concept for a 4 year old to grasp. 5 and up is probably the sweet spot for this toy. Truth be told I think it's fun to win the race and then blast my car off the track.

Trust all the reviews...the cars fly off the track. You can't even go once around the track.

Standard batteries did not connect. I had to use kitchen metal envelope to make them work. Then batteries lasted only for around 2 hours playing.

When one car is running the other goes slower. For example, when one car gets out of the track, the other suddenly accelerates (usually getting out of track too).

Maybe some of this inconveniences are common to all battery operated car tracks... Consider buying one that connects to main power.

This thing is a piece of junk and isn't worth $1. Horrible quality and craftsmanship. Pieces don't fit together right. Pieces that do fit don't even stay together. The one we bought didn't even work unless you pressed really hard on both sides of the battery compartment while trying to use it!!! Upgrade now and save yourself the grief.

great fun at dirt cheap price. everyone complaining about this toy apparently has no experience with slot cars. yes they are fast enough to fall off the track, however my 2.5 yr old son figured it out. be easy on the throttle trigger and pulse it on/off when in the corners. This allows for fast pased back and forth racing between two people...slot cars weren't meant to be easy, if they were slow and both cars the same speed how long would you actually play with this toy? Go as fast as you can and win the race, push the limits too far and the cars fly off... For the price this is a great and exciting toy. I plan on buying another one and doubling the track size.

Great fun for the money. Did not want to buy an expensive set unless the grandkids enjoyed it. Everyone from the 2 year old to the 6 year old are playing with it. Like some of the other reviewers it helps to limit the controller travel to slow the cars down in the curves and make it easier to keep them on the track. Yes it is cheaply constructed, but for the price I bought two and lengthened the track. It helps if you are handy with electrical/mechanical toys as the brushes/wheels will need some adjustment from time to time. Since I had two power packs I wired them together to increase the battery life. Still on the original batteries 3 days later.
