I was not sure if my child could actually do this but after a few turns he really got it. He has no video games to play and I thought this might be fun for him while he learned letters. Whithin 3 or 4 days he has picked out letters and their names. He can play the games that are on it..not very well but he is still learning. I do like this product and wish there were a few more "games" on it for him to play but for right now learning to listen to directions and play the game on his own is great.

My daughter loves this toy she got two for christmas, usually her double toys go to grandmas, but since I am not 100% satisfied we will only be keeping one and exchanging the other for another education game.

The screen is very hard to see. They should have made it in color. Although, my daughter loves the toy and actually interacts with it, she can only play with it if it is in direct sunlight. You can barely see what is on the screen.

Would have been better also if it had lowercase letters. I never understood why capital letters were taught first, when we write solely in lowercase letters!

Its a good product with flaws that hopefully they can improve in the future.

this toy was a awesome thought however the customization doesn't work at all. the games don't interest my almost three year old son. my 5 month old seems to be the only one that enjoys the sounds it makes but even the sounds are distorted even after changing batteries. this was a disappointment. i wish i would have bought something else.

It's not what you think when you think of everyday texting but it's still a great gift and does what it should for a small child I suppose. I bought it for my one year old who LOVES to text on mommy's phone but he'll grow into it and it's defiantly a durable toy that it will survive and he isn't rough on his toys anyways when there not to be rough with but he loves it talking to him and the music he plays. :D

Comments about LeapFrog Text and Learn:

I bought this for my son when he was about a year and a half much younger then the recomended age. I needed something he could just push buttons to keep his courious lil hands busy and so he can learn to. Now he is 29 months old still younger then the recomended age and he knows all the letters and sounds they make, he can play the games and is now learning his shapes. I also read and teach him as well the majority of the time he knows all the colors etc. but this is deffinatly a great learning tool. it should be 18 + or 2+ though. It's never to early to teach them. It is very durable he has thrown it accross the room hitting floor very hard a few times and it still works great! I love that the key board is set up like on the computer...and now he actually uses the word doc. on my computer to type just for fun sometimes and he can find all the letters i ask him to find so it also can help with keyboarding as well.

This toy would be fun, however the screen is way too dark. I have to get under a bright light with my son and make sure the screen is tilted just the right way for us both to see while we play together. I have no idea why the designers didn't make the screen light up or at least make the cover clear rather than blue. This makes the toy useless.

My 2 year old has had this toy for a year and a half. I didn't realize it was for 3-5 year-olds and picked it up on sale. At 2 he already knows his alphabet and is playing the bubble letters game on this toy. He has even learned proper pronunciation as it says how to pronounce each letter. For a toddler it also holds up very well against dropping, even on the concrete floor in the grocery store.

My daughter got this for her birthday and she has already stopped playing with it.. We cannot see the screen that is the main problem. There is not really alot to keep her entertained with it. It doesn't give clear directions for a 4 year old to under stand what to do. Especially for the price it's not worth the money you spend for what you get and for the fact you cannot see the screen. Even with a light on because then you get a very bad glare.
