This set does not include the pen. Most parents should know this. This is a book set of 6. All six books fit onto the tag reader at once. Different stories from the ones available for single purchases.
I like the fact that all 6 stories are Vowel oriented. They are separate stories but all work towards one goal. Helping your child with reading. They are like the single stories that have added things on each page the child can do. Animals talk, objects make sounds, games and helping to learn a new word. Worth every penny.

The learn to read phonics is best for getting pre-readers engaged with reading. it fosters facility with holding a pen and a book and focusing. Don't get over invested in actual reading skills. It is better for the children to have fun while gaining familiarity with letters and sounds. My very active grandchildren who don't sit still for anything for very long stay engaged with these books for up to 45 minutes at a time with one or two short breaks in between.

Had to buy this since the book that the TAG Learning System came with was very limited. I gave my daughter one book from this package with the TAG system and will give her the rest for Christmas as a stocking stuffer. The price was more than I expected. The stories are fun and engaging, quite capable of holding her attention. Although I think I am more impressed with it than she is.

This books are wonderful. My son is 4 and absolutely loves them. He likes the fact that he reads and at the end can play a game. I am very impressed with how easily he has caught on with this. He sounds out every word and has made it a part of his daily habit. I would recommend this to anyone!!!!!
