My son received this as a Christmas present. He played with it for one day and then it didn't work anymore. I would think that a toy that is meant to be shaken would be designed to withstand the shaking! We tried changing the batteries and it didnt make a difference.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

my son loves this toy,you shake him and mater says something and off he goes. But now he doesn't go anymore..I have tried changing the batteries and he talks but the wheels don't turn anymore, so not really working well anymore,

I bought this for my son's first bday last year. He is 22 months now and it's one of his favorite toys (I don't know why, b/c he takes of running and hides when you actually shake it up to let it go lol). He has dropped it so many times and it's a heavy toy, but it has not chipped/broken at all. He's good on battery life and is definately a toy that will grow with a child. ONly downside is it is a heavy toy. My son has dropped it on my husband's toes several times and he screams in pain. Luckily my son has not dropped it on his little toes cause it would be painful. We'd take it away if he didn't lug it around with him everywhere.

Super cut. Well made and works good. We couldn't believe how far it went! Both of my kids love it, and there are NO batteries to replace!

I bought Rescue Mater for my grandson. We have lots of fun racing these "shake cars" down the hallway of my apartment. They work on carpet but so much better on wood floors or better yet outside on concrete or asphalt. They make a lot of noise but isn't that what a race car is supposed to do.
