My sons LOVE Buzz. They loved Buzz when we took him home on day 1. They loved Buzz when the light fell off his wing on day 2. They loved Buzz when his laser stopped flashing on day 3. They loved Buzz when all the screw covers fell off on day 4. They loved Buzz when his leg broke off on Week 4.

On the bright side, Buzz can now join the matching Zurg toy in our in-home toy-repair *hospital*.

Unfortunately, Buzz certainly isn't as durable as his movie counterpart would have you believe!

I purchased the Buzz Light-year to replace the one my son accidentally broke. I was disappointed when it arrived and my friend noticed many differences between the two Buzz's even though they had the same name and code number. One big one for us was his foot does NOT even say Andy:( My friends son didn't care but we were disappointed it claimed to be a Buzz toy but seemed to be a knock-off:( so not worth the money for a knock-off Buzz:(

Bought for my two year old as a gift and as soon as we gave it to him the helmet broke off and one of the hinges for the helmet broke also. Within 24 Hours the wings broke and thanks to his dad he fixed the wings. My son may be two but he is very good with toys and for it to break as soon as we took it out the box and gave it to him. All sounds still work and wings are fine now. Poor quality I must say!

It breaks. My child was not rough with this toy, and played with it under supervision. As soon as he received it, it broke in 10 minutes. That one was returned. Several months later, much to my chagrin he received it as a gift again. This time it took about a month for the wing to break, and it upset my three year old. The sounds all still work, but the wing defect is really bothering him because he likes to fly Buzz around.

I've had bad experiences with other Mattel toys of this era. Mattel toys from our childhoods found their way to our children, but these don't even find their way to the younger sibling. It's a disgrace to sell landfill quality toys at these exorbitant prices. I have ceased to buy toys from Mattel. I just tell my kids and family that Mattel is a bad toy maker.

My son is 2 years old and he received this is a gift on Christmas. He absolutely LOVES it! Now everything is Buzz Lightyear; he wants the shirts, the cups, the smaller action figures, etc. He's not old enough to sit through the Toy Story movies, but hopefully that's next! I have a 6 month old who also enjoys the lights and sounds, so that's a plus too! I don't have to worry about little parts falling off, so he's safe to play with it too!

Bought for my 2.5 year old. What's great: Large toy, Really looks like Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, many phrases & responds to actions, e.g. opening the helmet & pretending to fly/landing makes the toy "say" certain responses. My son really does love it.

what's not so great: Have had it for a few days-the right wing falls off about 10 times a day since it arrived (even before my son began playing with it), so that now the lights on the right wing no longer work. The helmet also comes off its hinges completely several times a day. I even have had it in my hands & the wing & helmet has come off from my handling the toy. I am constantly putting these parts back on & anticipate at some point it likely will break permanently. The joints articulate slightly but it takes a lot of force to do so, to the point that you feel you are going to crack the toy.
I feel these points really make this toy not worth its hefty price. If it was half the cost & took a little longer before I was snapping parts back on I might chalk it up to wear & tear, but it's obvious it came poorly manufactured. I have seen other reviews mentioning the problem with the wing, I should have taken heed, & maybe I should have returned it, but I also don't know of any alternative versions of the original Buzz Lightyear figure.
I would like to stress that I don't believe these issues are from too rough play, as it was falling apart right out of the box & even while I have had it in my own hands just checking out the toy.

Completely met my expectations and came in the exact box featured in the movie...my toddler was soooo excited!! Lots of phrases and action parts like the real Buzz Lightyear.

Bummer that this toy was so expensive!!!

we got this as a Christmas gift for my 4 yr old and it now not even a month old and it has already broken!! the wings don't work, he can't tell when he is "flying" anymore, and he won't respond to his helmet opening and closing it's a piece of JUNK!!!!
