We took this camping and had so much fun with the kids, when the kids went to bed the adults couldn't stop playing with it. I have a large head and the eye/focus adjustments fit me well, it also fit my 2yo. The distance that you can see is advertised at 50' but it is more like 35'. Great toy and everyone that tries it out is blown away how cool it is and how well it works. I am working on building a flashlight with ir LEDs to use with this.

the technology the goggles use is not night vision, is infrared cameras with infrared light. This means, that if two of you have it you will see each other as if you have a flashlight on your head. Nothing like REAL NIGHT VISION.

On the other hand, you will be able to see in the dark.

i ran out and bought this as soon as i saw them. i had read reviews of the earlier ones, and a lot were not so kind. people said the straps were really breakable, and the screen was not a really good size or that it needs to be in both eyes. well with the 2.0 all the problems are fixed: now there is no straps, just hold up to your face! and the screen is in both eyes! it could be the coolest gadget ever, and i say gadget because it isnt really a great toy. it lets you see in the dark. thats it. no game. no objective, just the ability to see without being seen at night. but thats great, and why I got them, although if your getting this for a young child who is very hard to keep occupied this expensive device will probably be at the bottom of the toy box in a few days.

These things work really well for the price. I have Gen-1 night vision goggles, and these work just as good as they do indoors. Outdoors the Gen-1 goggles blow these away. But don't be discouraged, the reason is the IR LED's on this unit aren't powerful enough for long range outdoor use. Simple solution- maglite with Ir filter will give you 100'+ clear vision outdoors. Ir filter for maglite around $20 + maglite D-cell flashlight $15-$20. Now you have as close to Gen-1 night vision as you can get for about $100. These claim see with both eyes, but they still have 1 screen with 2 eye cups. Double vision promblem at first,tried their solution to no avail. My solution was to hang binocs around neck, hold about 3" from chest turn on and stare at the spacer between the eyecups with both eyes. Then slowly raise binocs to face. It's one of those eye trick things. Works every time for me. OK , you still can't go runnin around in the dark with these things. Takes both hands to operate, especialy a child. Depth perception not good. Slow go with any night vision even Gen-1. I have these and the eyeclops goggles. So these binocs are a little tricky to use with the double vision thing, a small child might not be able to use. Goggles might be better. Just be careful with the straps. OK my choice would be the goggles,maglite D-cell flashlight with IR filter, thats what I have. Even carrying flashlight have a free hand. Goggles can be had cheap now at some of the bigger dicount stores. Less than $50. I have both, the eyeclops goggles and the eyeclops binocs and will keep both. Both work really well for toys. The choice of which you get is personal preferance.
