i must say . i seen this guitar over a friends house . he was about to put in yard sale. had some missing strings . i just had to have it since it looked playable . sure the neck is short but everything there to be a playable . not a total kids toy . this is a learning tool . he end up giving it to me . i restring it that was a problem as some of the mech up top strip some but i was gentle took my time . now it tunes no problem and sounds good. some string need to find that sweet spot for crisp clear sound but that s the fun with guitar anyhow . good little guitar. i been playing for about ten years .

I order this item online for my daughter for christmas. After checkout I received a confirmation email and then a cancelled order email. It took me until a week before Christmas to get an operator that pushed my order through to be shipped. I would not order online from Toys R Us, I kept getting we apologize but noone was really helping.

I bought this guitar for my daughter for christmas, thinking that it would provide an opportunity to experiment with an instrument. To be honest, I was not expecting much, for the price.
The problem started as soon as we opened the box. All the strings were barely wound on the guitar. They were basically hanging, literally.
Second, when I tried to tune the guitar I instantly snapped two of the strings as I tightened them. Lastly, there was no way I could get this guitar tuned. It was impossible. I spent an hour and even had a friend of mine (who is a guitar player) try to tune. Could not be done.
Basically, this is a toy. Forget about trying to actually play it, the chord cards are worthless since you can't tune it.
When I went to return the guitar today, TRU basically wouldn't take it back. I could get a credit and that was all.
I will never recommend this for anyone, nor will we ever shop at TRU again.

This isn't the highest quality guitar so if you're trying to make your kid a serious musician, you might want to choose another.

We got this for our six year old for Christmas after he asked Santa for one. I'm not convinced he is serious, that he wants to learn and not just screw around with it. It's certainly good enough to convince him it's a real guitar and not a toy, and not so well made that I will feel bad if it's trashed.

Pros: Inexpensive, perfect size for our six year old, looks pretty nice (not too toy-like).

Cons: doesn't come with picks or any instruction, you'll need to get those separately. You'll also need a tuner because this doesn't come with one and doesn't stay in tune for very long. We just downloaded an app. Not the best sound quality, but it will do.

Bottom Line: good enough for a toy, or for a starter instrumen but you'llwant something better if you get serious.

Purchased this product for my daugher who was 8. She was in love with it! She played it only a few times when one of the strings came loose and eventually broke. Disappointed, I told her we would take it to church and see if the guitarist at church could fix it. Much to our dismay, he said that because this was not a "real" guitar, the strings could not be repaired/replaced. I tried to return it to the store but could not find my receipt (it was purchased in October for Christmas and broke some time in February - who keeps a receipt that long!) We gave up and she played it broken for a year before she got frustrated and we threw it out. What a huge waste of money and frustration!

All strings go out of tune as soon as you strum. Your kid will play on it for 3 minutes then put it down because it doesn't sound good. My wife bought this thinking that our daughter would play because I play guitar. My girls rather play mine because it is tunes. Kids know the difference.
