We had this guitar for about a week before the black neck broke off from the rest of the guitar. You cannot repair this yourslef because glue is not strong enough to hold it together under the pressure of playing with the strings. My daughter got about 2 hours worth of play out of this. So disappointed!

Guitar lasted for about 6 months before we experienced what others have mentioned - the panel that holds the bottom of the strings ripped its screws out of the thin wood. There's no way to reattach the screws or glue the thing down (it needs to withstand the pressure of tuned strings), so the guitar is now useless. [...]

I hate that one star is the lowest this guitar can be rated. None of the Spongebob guitar models are of any quality. I was not expecting greatness for [$] but I was expecting playable. They came with loose strings that could not be tuned. The guitars are made of the thinnest material I have ever seen. My nephew has a cheaper guitar that plays much nicer and is of better quality. A musician in the family got it for him and I should have followed his example but my four year old wanted a Spongebob guitar. He wanted to try all of them to see if the next one would work. I finally talked him into a plain guitar and he is much happier.There is nothing good about the Spongebob guitar models. I am disappointed in First Act Discovery. They usually make better products for young kids.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bought this for my 4yr. old son for Christmas gift. When we opened the sponge bob box that it came in we noticed the strings were loose, so my husband tried to tighten them and immediately the black bar popped loose. The screws that's suppose to hold the bar down popped out and now the entire guitar is worseless. I will be returning the guitar.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
