Founded over 100 years ago by Edward Mead Johnson, one of the original founders of Johnson and Johnson, the Mead Johnson company produces more than 70 different products that are distributed in over 50 countries worldwide. Mead Johnson produces baby formula, vitamin and specialty nutritional supplements including Enfamil. Introduced in 1959, Enfamil baby formula has undergone several significant changes since it was invented. Each change brings Enfamil baby formula nutritionally closer to breast milk.

Edward Mead founded Mead Johnson because he wanted to make products to help people live healthier lives. After much research, Edward Mead and his son Lambert discovered a way to manufacture nutrient-rich baby food formula for infants who didnt have access to breast milk. This eventually became Enfamil baby formula.

Mead Johnson's global operations center and U.S. regional office is located in Evansville, Indiana.

This is really a great product! My daughter was diagnosed with acid reflux at about 5wks old. Dr's had us try lots of different formulas, and they thought it wasn't the formula. I thought otherwise. I decided to see a different Dr, who gave me a sample of Nutramigen to try. I noticed a difference right away. She would cry all day long and I couldn't put her down. She also gave me Goodstart to try and said it was a cheap alternative. Being that we are in the recesion I tried that last week. I gave her a couple ounces one night and the same the next day. The next two days she was soo fussy and wouldn't let me put her down. I said forget it and now she is back to sleeping during the day and not so fussy. I really wish that they would lower the price on this, but it does help that Enfamil sends out $5 coupons!! Just wish after they start drinking it that you could keep it logner than an hour in the fridge. To me it's too expensive to be throwing away!!

There's been a lot of noise by reviewers on the "old" Nutramigen versus the newer powdered Nutramigen with Enflora LGG. When I switched to formula with my son, I purchased both the powdered version of Nutramigen, which contains the Enflora LGG, and the ready to use cans, which does not contain Enflora LGG. Based on circumstances and convenience I would flip flop between both products. However, I started noticing that when we would use the powdered version of the formula my son would experience extreme gas pains and hard time passing stools. At first I chalked it up to an immature digestive system and that he was just a gassy baby, but then I noticed a pattern. Days that he was primarily on the Nutramigen with Enflora LGG would be followed up with days of intense suffering from gas. On the flip side, when I would feed him the ready made formula (basically out of laziness on my behalf), he would be content happy baby.

After noticing this pattern I contacted Enfamil to get their feedback/advice. I wasn't looking to criticize their product, but simply try and figure out if one version of the Nutramigen was a little more sensitive on my baby's stomach over the other. After talking to one of their "food technicians" they finally admitted to me that although both Nutramigen products are under the same umbrella that they do consider the regular Nutramigen and the Nutramigen with Enflora LGG TWO DIFFERENT FORMULAS. And that switching the between both product IS CONSIDERED A FORMULA CHANGE! However, they did say that most babies don't have a problem switching between the two versions. Ok that's fine and dandy, but Nutramigen is made specifically for baby's with uber sensative digestive tracks, so why wouldn't you specify that up front. Switching formulas is hard enough on any normal baby let alone those that severe digestion problems. Come on Enfamil! What's worse is that they just went and switched the old powdered formula to the new one without even letting parent's know up front. Very very very bad communication Enfamil.

Although I am very disappointed in the added probiotic in the Nutramigen, I will say that this suite of products has done wonders for both my children. My oldest had severe allergies to both soy and dairy and thrived on the Nutramigen AA. So far my second son is doing extremely well on the Ready Made Nutramigen without the Enflora LGG. It would be nice if they made the regular Nutramigen in the powdered form again for cost reasons, but overall it is a good product. It also appreas that many babies can handle and benefit from the Enflora LGG. I just wish they would have done a better job communicating the differences.

My son has struggled with a milk protein allergy since he was born and just recently the doctor put him on Nutrmigen. I am pleased with this decision because other hypoallergenic formulas leave him constipated but this doesn't. He is eating better and happier :)

My baby cried and fussed with all of the other brands, including Soy. The doctor recommended this product and it was a god send. She's gained weight and is happier. It was hard to mix but we start with a little hot water, which breaks it down then we add the rest of the cold water. No problem now. It does smell but it doesn't matter now that she's no longer in pain.

Our little one had terrible constipation and gas pains. We lost sleep many nights from it. This formula relieved everything in a couple days time. It smells terrible and it stains. However I rather deal with stinky formula any day rather than my grandchild suffer from allergies and stomach pains. This formula saved our sanity!

Colic baby and she would cry for 4 hours a night. I was thinking about switching her over to soy base but the doctor said no. She recommend this brand and was great. No more 4 hours of crying. The only thing about this is it's hard to get all the clumps mixed.

As our son switched from breast milk to formula at 6 months of age we started noticing symptoms. First a runny nose, then a cough, then a cramping belly, then a body rash that covered his entire torso, and was just miserable. Once we switched to Nutramigen, the symptoms started to decrease within 48 hours and in about a week he was back to his normal self.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Nutramigen Powder Formula - 19.8 Ounce:

I'm not one to write reviews, but I feel this product deserves one. I am the mom of twin boys who have acid reflux. We started one of them on nutramigen with baby zantac and saw amazing results. A month or so later we added his brother on nutramigen and saw the same results. They take all of their bottles, no stubborness on their end due to discomfort and we actually have increased their ounce intake on their feedings.
Cons-for sure the smell. I read reviews and thought it can't be that bad right? Oh no, it is. I really hope it does not taste like how it smells. And the other con is the cost. Unfortunately as soon as any baby product is a specialty the price goes up.
