Like most kids my 18 month old enjoys talking on phones as well as pretending other things are phones!

To attempt to keep him off the real phones, we got him this substitute.

He enjoys 'talking' with Scout and pressing the buttons. I like that it is fun but also educational. The only thing that's missing, in my opinion, is a backlight or a color display like most smartphones have.

My child is 17 months old and got this as a gift. The screen is very dark and hard to see in low light. It does help with her number recognition. She likes it and enjoys that it talks to her, more like a cell phone than other toys.

I bought this phone for my 21 month old son. For the 5 minutes it worked properly he loved it, then it no longer had any sound. we did all the trouble shooting suggestions nothing worked. Very disappointed this is the first time I have every been let down by a Leap Frog product.

The idea of such a phone is very good. However this item has three very big minuses: 1. The display brightness is not adjustable and it is to pale by default, 2. sounds are barely heard from the speaker and there is no option to make it enough louder, 3. the item is too heavy for children.

The sound stopped working after five minutes. Replaced the batteries. Still doesn't work. Tried to find a solution on LeapFrog's website and was unable to fin any info that helped. Waste of money and time. Don't buy this.

my siter in law purchased this phone as a gift to my son under assumption that it will interact with the toy she got him for Christmas last year. Scout pops up on the screen but the phone does not actually interacts with Scout. From the box, I got the same assumption... I really thought it will actually interact with Scout, but it does not... Very dissapointed... My one year old still enjoys the toy, but it could have been so much better!!!

I bought this phone for my daughter because it was said to be an educational product. I agree it is BUT you can hardly see what's on the screen. I wish it were lighting up. She does not seem to enjoy it. It is also bulkier than I imagined. Please do something about the dull screen.

I purchased this for my 16 month old Granddaughter because she loves to talk on cell phones. I was very disappointed as I had expected more from Leapfrog. You cannot adjust the brightness on the screen so it's barely visible. I thought you could record messages for child, you cannot. Also I thought you could connect to the Learning Path & add features which you cannot. Just an average phone and she already has several of these. I thought I was getting her something better. Very disappointed. She has the Violet dog which is entertaining but she lost interest pretty fast.

Every child is different. For our child, this has been the perfect toy! Whenever I'm heading to/from daycare with her (only 8 min each way), she gets bored and starts stripping off her shoes, socks, tossing toys, etc. I keep trying to keep her engaged, but she hasn't quite learned to talk yet (songs don't have that much interest yet), and loves having something in her hands. Nana got her this phone for her 1st birthday. She absolutely loves it! Not only does it keep her engaged for her short car trips (so I don't have to re-dress her when we get to our destination), but it also keeps her from grabbing for our phones. The other day when I brought her home, she kept pressing the #4 and saying f-- before the phone said "Four." If she doesn't know her numbers through 10 from this thing before she's 18 months, I'll be surprised. My only complaint is that I can't call it when it's gone missing. :) (My daughter likes putting stuff in/under other things. This is the perfect size to find it's way under a couch cushion, down the stairs, in her toy car, etc.)
