This is a very nice learning tool for observation and fact evaluation. The steps in the guide book are clear and easily performed. This item was given as a gift but I have been working with the recipient to work through the projects. She didn't want to put it away after several hours of play. This demonstrates how difficult it really is to solve a crime using forensics.

I found this item in store even though it didn't show as being in inventory, and I was disappointed in the case it came in.
Cardboard will not stand up long to use by anyone, especially a child. Plus the case was badly damaged before I purchased it.
That and the plaster in the kit says it is toxic and could lead to respiratory distress. This is a bad combination, and should be a warning on the outside of the packaging. Should a child be sickened, this could lead to problems for the retailer, not exclusively a lawsuit.
In short this kit is okay for someone who wants to have their little one doing fingerprinting or looking at things with the other tools. Keep the plaster away and get a better box, then it'll be all right to play with.
