I got this for my three year old because she loves flashlights and couldn't wait to try it out. Sadly, we put all types of batteries in it and the thing never turned on. I threw away the package so I can't return it, ugh! It's beautiful; too bad the design is really bad and doesn't work at all.

The button would not always make the proper connection and the flashlight would not turn on or not turn off. I resulted to shaking and tapping it to enact some action, which had a positive effect. Changed the batteries a couple times to make sure that it wasn't a bad batch too. When it does work, it's great. It's not the strongest LED, but it's enough for a 2 year old to use in her room or around the house and not be overbearing. Wanted to exchange, but it was a seasonal item and no other option was available. At least it keeps her from using all of my flashlights. :)
If you're going to purchase a light like this, just beware that your child might get upset since it doesn't work 100% of the time and will come crying to you and ask you to fix it.

While the flashlight feels a little chintzy, it works well. The one click on/off button is easy for my 3 year old to use. The colorful design makes it fun, and the bulb isn't super bright, so it isn't a real bother if it "accidentally" gets shined in a sibling's eyes.

My 3 year old daughter loves to play police officer and always uses an imaginary flashlight so I bought her this for Christmas with high expectations from Melissa and Doug. Once we put in batteries my husband grabbed the box back out of the trash pile to return it. This thing is awful. The button to turn the light on doesn't stay in the "on" position. For the light to stay on we have to constantly hold it down or it turns off. If you decrease the pressure the slightest amount while pushing the button down, the light will flicker.

When my little one's night light burned out, I got her this flashlight. She loves it, and can turn it on and off by herself. It has fallen on the floor countless times from various heights, and not a scratch on it!
