Product Description

The S1 by Safety 1st onboard35 air is the first infant car seat to introduce air protect technology. This technology immediately reduces impact forces through the precise release of air. The car seat is rear facing from a tiny 4lbs to a full 35lbs. There is also 17% extra leg room for larger infants, because experts agree to keep your baby rear facing as long as possible! The customizable preemie insert and low harness slots for a snug fit for small babies accommodates babies as small as 4lbs. The adjustable base with extensive adjustments can fit a variety of cars. The one click latch system makes installation a snap.

I love this carseat!! It is perfect!! I knew it was going to be a tight fit in my Mazda Speed6 but worth it! It sits fine in the middle, or behind the passenger seat, but my husband is 6'2" so the carseat can't go behind him. My 3 year old fits in this carseat, which is what I was looking for. My newborn is bigger than my 3 year old was, and is going to grow much faster, and since this carseat is LONGER and goes up to 35lbs I can rear face for much longer. The product description says that it is a longer carseat, and of course it is going to be heavier it is made to last longer. Personally I love it, and we are glad to have it!

I have mixed feelings about this seat. I love the idea of the Air technology for safety, it seems sturdy and well made, and the seat looks sleek next to many of the ugly color themed seats I see people carrying into the Pediatrician's office. I think for a preemie or newborn there isn't a better option out there, but after two months I found the cushioning and belts a bit akward/uncomfortable. My baby hates being in it -had it checked out to make sure I had installed it and was securing him in it correctly and I have been so not sure if it's the seat or if he just hates being confined in a car seat.

This is a seat where you need to do your homework before buying. Measure the back seat of your car to make sure your front seats will clear it. It also doesn't fit shopping carts and I don't love the compatible stoller. The payoff is that it is supposed to last longer (length). It is heavier than many of the most popular seats out there, only a pound or two, but you can look up the specs if that's an issue for you (two pounds is a lot to me when you're lugging so much already).

Car Seat is wonderful. We've taken a couple of 4 hour drives to Disney with no complaints. The only issue was washing it. The seam on the seat cover came undone on the gental cycle. (I now know you have to hand wash, but come on who has time for that?) Called Saftey1st and within a week we had a new seat cover as well as the canopy and infant head support. The new seat cover stands up fine on the gental cycle, just FYI. Best of all a couple months later I was able to get a second identical car seat for 60% off.

Comments about S1 by Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - McKenna:

I have used this car seat for the past 13 months until last week when my brand new car was nearly totaled. In the wreck my sweet girl didn't even notice anything had happened. This seat is safe. That is what is important.

Yes it is heavy. It is a car seat not a purse, it should be.
It is bulky, but comfy. It fit great in my small Corolla, in our Tacoma (which has a tiny backseat) and I managed to get it into the joke of a backseat in my mom's Silverado without moving the seats. She always fell asleep in it and never cried when I put her into it.
The fabric did pill where the feet were, but thats okay by me, the fabric was a cool material so she never got sweaty in it, and it gets HOT! HOT! HOT! here. The cover does come off EASILY so you can wash it, I had to more than a few times.
It was easy to install and adjust. Who ever says differently has not worked with many car seats. I do this for a living, and at this price point it doesn't get easier.
The straps do move around. This makes them easy to adjust. They should be checked every time baby is put in the seat though. SAFTEY FIRST! Mine never got twisted.

Unfortunately babies and kids die in car accidents everyday. They are called accidents because no one intends to have on. You want a seat that is SAFE. This one is. I would buy it again if I had another baby.

I can't attest to the stroller that it goes with. I really only carried the car seat around when she was asleep inside the house or into restaurants and what not.

Comments about S1 by Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - McKenna:

My fiance bought this car seat for our daughter when she was about 2 weeks old beause he wasnt happy with the cheaper one that I recieved as a gift for my baby shower, he said it wasnt sturdy enough to carry his baby, so he looked for something more so and fell in love with this one. I wasnt happy that it wasnt at all girlie looking, but it was so sturdy and had all the bells and whistles. When we first got it, it was no problem carrying our daughter around because she was so small (7lbs), but now she is 6 mos old and weighs at least 20 lbs and it kills my arms to carry her around. The car seat itself is heavier than most, but when we put her inside, its just too much... so we will be moving to a convertible carseat pretty soon. Other than heaviness, it is a great carseat, I wouldnt be surprised if this thing is bullet-proof. Definitely sturdy, yet comfortable for the little one.

Comments about S1 by Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - McKenna:

I have only one complaint and that is that it is heavy with my son in it. However, in the defense of the car seat, my 3 month old is about 17 pounds.

The car seat is made of a really soft material, unlike other car seats that I always thought felt cheap. I had such a hard time picking out a car seat and when I found this one I just knew. It's so comfortable. LO falls asleep almost instantly when he is in it. Lots of cushioning for comfort AND safety. Some reviewers said it was hard to adjust, I don't think it is difficult as all. There is a little button you press in the front and then you just pull the strap. to tighten you can press the button or not and just pull it the other way. Our back up car seat tightens in the back. How in the world do you tighten straps like that once the baby is in the car seat. This car seat is awesome by design and I reccommend it a million times. We will definitely be getting their toddler car seat when the time is right.

Comments about S1 by Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - McKenna:

So, I am a Britax momma but I got the Safety 1st stroller as a shower gift. I was so impressed with it that I bought the matching carseat after some review. My big girl is 3 months and I regret the decision every day. The cover where her legs rest or will eventually rest when she grows is WORN. It is snagged and pilled. The kid doesn't wear anything bedazzled. Just sleepers and comfy clothes. But, the material has not held up at all. Very disappointing.

OK to adjust not as easy as Britax comparable to Graco. Better center latch position than Graco's uber close crotch strap.

Also it's properly installed with base and when latched into the base I'm not impressed. I think the base design could be improved to just be safer overall.

We are in Chicago and don't put a coat on LO. So we do blankets and a cover which goes over. The bottom won't latch with any cover on.

Comments about S1 by Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - McKenna:

I bought this seat back in 2009, when it was marketed under Bertini. I have now used it for both my sons. I liked that it is able to be used over such a wide weight range, and my boys have both been quite comfortable in it. I didn't like that it was a bit bulky compared to other infant seats, and it does weigh a ton. But perhaps most important, it works! We were t-boned a few days ago, and my infant son didn't even seem to feel it happen in his seat.

Comments about S1 by Safety 1st onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat - McKenna:

We got this car seat because it had the highest crash score on CR. It is bigger than most infant seats we looked at and it is definitely heavier. The straps need to be retightened constantly and get twisted a lot. There are no bells and whistles to this seat but i trust it to be extremely safe in an accident.

This car seat has been so great. Our little man is 2 next month and it's lasted us this long without him growing out of it too bad. His feet dangle off the edge only an inch or so now. Finally ready to get him in a toddler car seat and put him forward facing. It held up great and we will be passing it off to my brother for his first baby due in June.
