I had been wanting to try cloth diapering for quite sometime but was held back by the up front cost to start out. A lot of diaper systems are so expensive to get started even though they may save you money in the long run. I was also overwhelmed by the thought of having to buy a whole new stash every time they grew up a size. Anyhow I saw these and had to try them since they looked simple and were a great price. This is my first time using cloth and so far it's going great. My son is 3 months old and wieghs 12.5 lbs and they are a bit bulky but fit well. It took me a couple of times to get the diaper folded and in the cover correctly but now it's easy. The prefold fits well in the cover and I find no need for pins or a snappi, the cover keeps the prefold nice and snug by itself. They seem very soft and absorbant too. I also tried one on my 3 year old toddler and they just fit on the last setting and looked good on him. Overall I'm impressed and happy with these diapers. If you are already using something fancier I could see how these would not be so impressive but I really like them. Simple, easy and cheap :)

Okay, the covers are great, although boring (no cute pattern or colors). I use them for overnight and have never had a leak. If you want to CD with low start up cost, I suggest these covers. However, the prefolds are way too bulky on an infant!!! I couldn't even zip my daughters larger pajamas it was so bulky, so I put them away for now, and may pull them back out for when she's a toddler for nighttime use (they do wash up nice and comfy)... For now I use a OsoCozy Unbleached Prefold (which are bulky, but no where near the econobum prefolds) and a hemp doubler and haven't had a leak yet. So, my suggestion is to buy the covers seperately and buy different prefolds or flats. If you do buy this pack, buy other prefolds or flats for infant use or you will never get their clothes on, lol...

Comments about bumGenius Econobum Cloth Diaper Set:

My son is three months old so we haven't been cloth diapering for long, but a friend recommended this brand to me. I love these diaper covers! they're made by bumgenius, and they come in one size so i'll be able to use them all the way until he's potty-trained. The prefolds are also great quality, and can be folded two different ways for different sizing options. I can't believe the quality of these diapers for the price- 12 prefolds, 3 diaper covers, and a wet-bag. Buying this set of diapers has allowed me to start cloth diapering full-time. I highly recommended this product to anyone interested in cloth diapering.

I like the Econobums. They soak up what my 2 1/2 month old puts in them. She seems to notice the wet fast in them. They are also rather bulky on her and took a while to figure out how to put the insert in so it would close on her.

Comments about bumGenius Econobum Cloth Diaper Set:

I opened the box and examined the diaper cover. It was very thin and being white was almost see-through. It was also obvious the snaps would not be pleasant against my child's hips. I didn't open the pre folds. There was no point. I hated the cover and by the size of the pre folds my child wouldn't like it either. If you are looking for a cheap way to cloth diaper look online at more than one store. Some even have promo codes for freebies with certain $ amount purchase.
To correct another reviewer, this set DOES include the wet bag.

I got these for my 2 year-old son and for my 3rd child who's due in Feb. I was surprised to see that the covers fit my 25 lb 2 year-old. By 25 lbs you can no longer use a snappi with the pre folds but if you lay the diaper in the cover it works pretty well. I don't trifold the diaper like the directions say to because it doesn't hold in poo on such a big child. I just fold it in half so there's a little more length to it. It works a lot better. For the price this is a good diaper. We will see how it does on a smaller baby.

Comments about bumGenius Econobum Cloth Diaper Set:

I bought these when my son was born and almost 2 years later they are as good as new! As long as I get the diaper tucked in they do not leak even though he is constantly on the run. I worried the cheap-looking covers would wear out with frequent washings but that has not been the case!!!!

These do need to be changed more often. A disposable is made to sponge up liquid and keep the skin dry, so your baby can literally sit in pee all day and not notice! Cloth diapers, no matter how thick, will still feel wet! So you can't be lazy about getting to the changing table. For that reason, I do use a disposable at night but I feel good I'm able to use cloth during the day and limit my landfill dumping!

With my first son, I used an All-in-one cloth diaper - they were very thick, stiff and fell apart after 6 months. I am now pregnant with #3 and pretty sure my econobum set will be with my the next couple of years!!!

I purchased several kinds of cloth diapers when my son was born, from the very inexpensive to the extravagant. The Econobum Cloth Diapers are significantly softer and more absorbent than any of the other brands I've tried.

Comments about bumGenius Econobum Cloth Diaper Set:

The fact that it grows with your baby, is affordable, and easy to use makes it a great way to start cloth diapering. As some other commenters noted, it can be bulky at first, but there are different ways to fold the prefold insert so that it fits your baby best. First time I put my son in one, he had a major bowel movement..NO LEAKS! These can also be easily used with "snappies" to hold the prefold on like a fitted diaper, then put cover on over it.
It is of a slightly lesser quality material that other covers, but it is also cheaper... I know someone who used them, and only them, on her 2 kids and they lasted through and are going to be used on her new one coming. So they do last.

I first used these when my son was about 10lbs. The prefolds are bulky but at 2 weeks old my son didn't mind and he seemed comfortable. I have now been using them instead of my pocket diapers because I RARELY have any leaks at all. If I wait too long to change it might leak a tiny bit and if there is a blow out diaper it leaks a bit, but so does EVERY other diaper I've tried. They are easy to clean and very affordable. The prefolds that come with it can work great but when they are tiny it's best to buy some "infant" prefolds so they aren't so crazy bulky and fit the little ones better. Another great thing...my husband has no problem with these diapers. It's easy to fold them and lay them in the cover. He was worried it would be complicated but has no complaints now.
