My kids received this toy from Santa this yr. (ages 9, 7,3) and they all love it! They spend hours at a time making shrinky dinks and love that it comes with blank shinky dink paper to create your own designs. Their friends all love this toy too when they come over. It's made well, and very safe too! Our set came with all the parts and did not require a light bulb for us to install. Maybe it's a new model?

Santa brought this for my daughter and it broke after the 2nd use!! What a waste of money!!!! I put the light bulb in and it worked the first time. We tried the 2nd time and the light bulb burned out. We replaced the bulb but now the machine won't turn on. The bulb is fine b/c I tried it on a lamp. I think this is a complete waste of money!! We have enjoyed doing the shrink dinks in the oven. Plus, you can do more at one time using the oven. I would not recommend this product!!!

I completely disliked the point you have to special order bulbs. I read a couple of reviews saying it didn't but I haven't found on yet that does not require the bulb that you have to special order. We looked for the bulbs then my daughter decided she just doesn't want it anymore because she wanted to use it as soon as she got it and couldn't. I just purchased it the week before Christmas and it still required the bulb.

This product would be awesome, but larger Shrinky Dinks (even some included in the pack) curl up and melt to the top of the baking chamber. This makes removal very difficult and discoloring and permanent warping almost definite. Aside from that, this is a cute little machine for small shrinky dinks. It uses a standard chandalier bulb, not the bulb they claim it uses. It doesn't need to be round for it to fit and work properly. As for the previous reviewer that said the unit says to "not use light bulbs", they didn't read the entire warning. It actually reads "do not use light bulbs larger than 60 Watts". LOL Regardless, I'd say it's easier to use an oven instead of this machine. It's probably not worth the price.

I have read other reviews of the Shrinky Dink Maker. My parents bought one for my daughter for Christmas. Upon reading reviews (before Christmas) I was disappointed to learn that I was going to have to track down a special lightbulb for the Maker to work. I was a little disappointed. BUT.... Apparently the company who makes Shrinky Dinks listened to all the bad reviews and improved their product as IT DOES NOT NEED A BULB NOW!!! The Shrinky Dink Maker has a heating element in it. So this Maker is ready to use right from the store. Yes, it is a little on the skimpy side to only include 6 quarter sheets of Shrinky paper.... But you can easily find larger packs of blank sheets at the craft stores. The Shrinky Dink Maker does work!!!! My 6 year old daughter and I spent almost 2 hours with it tonight making different charms with it. The conventional way to use them with a full-sized oven always worked well, but always needed close adult supervision. With this little "oven" you can let your children use it with loose supervision. The little metal tray does get hot... But I am not sure it really gets hot enought to really burn. Like I said, my daughter is 6 and after showing her the Do's and Don't with the oven, I am confident that she could use it without me right over her shoulder. Any younger that 6 I would say that they'd need an adult right with them so they don't put their fingers in the slot. It is rated for children age 8+, and I think that is a very accurate rating. Sometimes the tray does get a little "stuck" but really nothing a human that is capable to average thinking could not fix. It is a kids toy that is fairly on the cheap side... of course it isn't going to be made flawlessly as it is mass produced. I would definitly recommend this to anyone who is thinking of buying it. Please disragard posts and ratings that include lightbulbs... THEY ARE THE OLD VERSION!

I can not comment on the maker; however, I would love to comment on the shrinky dinks concept. I had never heard of this product before and my 5yo received this as a gift at school Christmas party. We are so hooked. She received a Dora package of 15 items and I am looking high and low for more! My 5 and 3 yo love creating them. We created ours in the oven, but I may consider getting the oven for birthday dependent on if I am able to find shrinky dinks easily.

I'm sure the product is great. In fact the one I got from [@] WAS fantastic. But ToysRUs' ordering system is so screwed up that even though they cancelled my order (since the item was out of stock.....despite the website saying it was IN stock) without any explantion as to WHY the order was cancelled, they still want me to review it. Review: Item GREAT. ToysRUs service: Horrible.

Even though my granddaughters could not use the Shrinky Dink Maker Oven, they had fun tracing some of the included patterns and coloring them. They "shrunk" them the old fashion way ... in their kitchen oven.

My 6 and 4 yr old LOVE the Shrinky Dink Maker. Best of all they can use it all on their own, and I don't have to worry about them burning themselves. I'm not sure who the first reviewer talked to, but the lightbulbs are VERY easy to find. We had some laying around the house because some of our lights take the same bulb. Most foyer lights will take the same bulb. No, it doesn't include the light bulb, but it is noted on the box. PERFECT toy for hours of fun!!
