Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider PREbike 12 inch Balance Running Bike - Blue:

I got this for my son when he was 2.5 yrs old. As expected he was unsure of his balance at first and just walked with it. But after about 2 days he was sitting on it walking slow, then after about two weeks he was gliding with it. This year he was sad that all his friends had pedals and he didn't so I bought him a pedal bike w/training wheels. As it turned out I got too big a bike and wasn't willing to try without the training wheels. He can do more with the balance bike then the pedal bike, so he often switches between the two bikes. But his pedal bike got run over by a careless driver that took too much room to back up, anyhow I will be getting him a smaller pedal bike to replace it and feel he will definitely be able to handle it without training wheels. A great buy. Highly recommended.

We bought this for our son who just turned 3 and he loves it... he's catching on pretty fast too! We just wish we knew about it when my daughter was younger as they don't make something big enough for a 5-6 year old. [...]Takes a little assembly, but nothing troubling.

Very glad we got this for our son. He's 2 1/2 and while it took him awhile to want to play on it (instead of turning it over and spinning the wheel), once he did try it that was enough. He's been riding for just about a month now and is balancing better than I thought he would this soon. He picks up his feet and coasts whether he's going slow or fast. He has great control, it's light so he has no problem managing steps and hills. It's his favorite toy and activity and it's so cute to hear him ask to wear his helmet so he can go ride his bike!

Not what I expected when I got it given the price tag. This bike is almost virtually identical to the weeride bike at [...] (identical plastic parts in all the areas you don't want plastic parts). The difference is the [...]version sells for only $29 and includes a brake.I'm done with toysrus after this one.

My son started riding his bike when he was 2. We totally love this and he loves it as well. I can jog with him while he is on this bike. Highly recommend this. He is 3 now and is still using it. We can't wait to see how he balances when he gets a bigger bike. No need for training wheels.

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider PREbike 12 inch Balance Running Bike - Blue:

We got this bike for my son's 2nd birthday last year. Took him a while to grasp just how different it was from his ride-on toys -- at first he would straddle it but walk it instead of sitting on the seat, and he lifted the front wheel instead of turning the handle bars to steer. But he loved it right from the start, and soon started getting the hang of it. Now he zips along, coasting with his feet up, balancing just great. By Christmas he'll be three and a half and ready for a bike with pedals ... and never need training wheels! Remember to get a helmet, too -- he knows he can't ride his bike unless he has a helmet on. Taking care of both is helping teach him to be responsible for his toys.

I chose the Strider over other balance bikes because of the foot rest on the frame. Pretty soon he'll figure out he can put his feet there while coasting instead of having to hold them out.

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider PREbike 12 inch Balance Running Bike - Blue:

My kids love their bikes! We first started our son on a bike with training wheels when he was 3 1/2. He did not stay on long. He felt woobly and unstable. Within a week of getting a Strider he was zipping around and balancing. He felt like he was in control due to the fact that he felt stable with both feet on the ground. At 5 1/2 he still really enjoys riding it. It is nice that a higher seat post is available. I also like the fact that there is a footrest. Once they do start to balance a footrest does not get in the way of them striding. Our daugther started walking with her bike arond the age of 1 1/2 and by the time she was 28 months she was zooming along and balancing. If she fell she picked the bike up easily because it is so light. I'm thinking my daughter will be on a pedal bike by the time she is 3 WITHOUT TRAINING WHEELS! Oh, and another nice thing is anywhere my kids can walk they can ride their strider(grass, trails, etc.)
