Description

Dr. Browns bottle features a patented two-piece internal vent system that works unlike any other bottle design. The vent system fully vents our bottle for vacuum-free feeding, which we call positive-pressure flow, similar to breastfeeding. As the baby feeds, air is channeled from the nipple collar through the vent system, bypassing the breast milk or formula, to the back of the bottle. Air never mixes with the breast milk or formula which minimizes oxidation and helps maintain essential nutrients like vitamins c, a and e. Babies feed more comfortably because the vent system allows them to nurse without fighting the negative effects of a vacuum or the discomfort of ingesting air bubbles. This helps to reduce feeding problems like colic, spit-up, burping, and gas. The breast milk or formula flows freely, without nipple collapse.

I have a total of four of these 8oz glass bottles for our baby, and this is the only bottle and size we used! After 1mo of breast-feeding, it took a few fussy feedings to get used to drinking from a bottle, but I think this would have happened with any bottle. It helped to use the preemie nipple even though he was full-term. (It comes with Lvl 1.) Now, he goes back and forth between breast and bottle just fine.
At 4mo old, we still use the preemie nipple. He drinks slower, but has less regurg so I figure the time spent eating works out about the same!
I prefer storing milk in glass rather than plastic, but glass is heavier than plastic. If they ever leak (rarely), I just unscrew it and rescrew it!
The cleaning hasn't bothered me. It comes with a thin brush for cleaning the valve parts.
I don't know if the valve system really works, but my baby gains weight just fine. I feel like gas intake also depends on how the baby drinks, if they've been crying, etc.
Assembled, this bottle is taller than most (8.75in), so you may need a taller bottle cooler for travel. It comes with 2 travel discs to decease leaking, but they should still stay upright. I decided to buy the Dr. Brown screw-on travel caps for travel.
These bottles will screw directly onto my Medela pump, too.

We used to love Dr. Brawn bottles until we tried their 8oz baby glass bottles. We had 3 of the 7oz Dr.Brawn glass bottles (which were GREAT!) but when our son started day care we needed to have more. When we went in the store we were pleasantly surprised to see that they actually had 8oz glass bottles now. The glass looked a lot cheaper than the glass used in the 7oz Dr.Brawn bottles but we decided to try them. To our disappointment all new bottles we bought broke while warming in a Dr. Brawn bottle warmer. Our older 7oz Dr. Brawn glass bottles are still in use and don't have a crack. We use them in exactly the same way as the 8oz bottles. We called the company and they sent us a new pair of 8 oz bottles. We followed all the instructions, even tested with an empty bottle not been in the fridge and a room temperature water and they BROKE again, exactly at the same spot at the bottom as the other once. It was very frustrting. We put the bottle in the bottle warmer and then when we had to pool it out there was no milk in the bottle and no bottom of the bottle. The company also said that they have not heard any other complains about the issue with their new glass bottles breaking very easy. This was very surprising and disappointing. It felt like the company didn't care about their customer's feedback. I hope more people decide to contact them so hopefully they will do something to improve the quality of their new 8oz glass bottles .It is such a good idea and they already had a successful glass bottle (the 7oz one, although it would have been better to be 8oz). If you don't want to waste precious baby milk, think twice before you buy the current 8oz Dr.Braw bottles.

Comments about Dr. Browns Dr. Brown's BPA Free Glass Bottles 2-Pack - 8 oz:

So glad we decided to use these bottles! I wasn't sure at first if I believed that they really helped prevent colic, but THEY DO!!!! My son is now 11 months old and has never had colic or any other feeding related issues. Also super glad we could find them in glass. We heat our sons bottles and using plastic just didn't make sense. At first everyone asked me "aren't you worried about them breaking?" Well my son is almost a year old and we haven't had a single bottle break! So happy with this purchase. :) Also, I suggest getting First Years Night and Day bottle warmer and JL Childress Pack N Protect Totes for carrying in diaper bag.

Comments about Dr. Browns Dr. Brown's BPA Free Glass Bottles 2-Pack - 8 oz:

I have used my glass 7 oz (I guess they are 8 oz now) for 3 children. I have 6 glass and 6 BPA free plastic ones. I pump exclusively and have had no breaks or problems in the last 4 years with the glass bottles. I like that they are better conductors of heat and warm up cold milk faster under the tap. They also clean "cleaner" than plastic. I think they are heavy, but I don't prop the bottle so no biggie. I've dropped them and found no problems on inspection. No complaints!

Comments about Dr. Browns Dr. Brown's BPA Free Glass Bottles 2-Pack - 8 oz:

I used Dr. Brown bottles with both my children. I breast fed only for the first 4 months and when I went back to work we have baby sitter use Dr. Brown bottles and i continue breast fed when i was home; we have no problem at all transitioning back and forth between the bottles and the breast ... no gas build up problem when feed with these bottles. The down side of these bottles; there's many part to clean and if you over filled the bottles it can leak ...but overall for the safety and the comfort of my kids.. this is the number one bottle for us and I love that Dr. Brown came out with glass bottle even though it can break but we can sticked it in the dish washer without worrying. I feel very safe and happy to use glass for my children rather than plastic.

Despite them being glass, they're very durable and safe in my opinion. The only draw back is when we put them in our bottle heater, the glass gets very hot. Once we run it under cold water for a second or two, they're just fine. The inserts take a little extra time to clean but it's worth it to prevent the gas. These glass bottles make me feel better since I'm not using potentially harmful plastic; the inserts are of course BPA-free.

These glass bottles work well in warmer. I dont trust warming plastic, even though I know the others are BPA free I always wonder what other petrochemicals in plastic we will find later are dangerous for babies. Chemicals aren't really tested well for safety and there are too many out there exposed to babies. I think there are less chemicals in glass than plastic. I think choosing less chemicals are better. I like the way the Dr. Brown bottles let in less gas too. These bottles are sturdy and do well in the sink and dishwasher and don't seem to break easily although I saw you can buy silicon sleeves for them, I haven't bothered.
