Product Description

CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.

Make your track layout flexible! Each piece is flexible and can turn both left and right.

To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen who combed the Danish words "Leg Got" which means "play well". He later realized that LEGO in Latin translates to "I put together. The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children worldwide, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

PURCHASED FOR USE WITH THE HI-SPEED TRAIN AND TRAIN STATION. THE PRODUCT IS VERY WELL CONSTRUCTED. THE PRODUCT MATERIALS ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE LEGO HI-SPEED TRAIN AND TRAIN STATION AND I DID NOT LIKE HOW THEY WENT TOGETHER.

My 9 yr old twin boys needed the extension for their tracks and this set works well for that purpose. It should be available in stores as well. Also a little expensive.

      Questionable purchase

      By axeIeng

      from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Functions Flexible Train Track (8867):

It's hard to put a verdict on this set - by itself it's a fairly decent product, but in practice there's NO reason to buy it. The track works reasonably well for tricky gaps but less so for long stretches - it looks bad, won't stay in place and many trains (especially complex steam engines like the Emerald Night) will run slow, noisy and easily derail. The trick to flextrack is to take three or so pieces and distribute them as evenly as possible around a difficult loop so it hinges like a triangle, instead of using 6-8 pieces together to fill the final gap. When used individually trains will have less problems and they don't look quite as bad as they could sorta pass as some signal/ground circuit junction. This highlights the first issue with this set, it's too large and would constitute a lifetime supply for most users. I've never used more than half the pieces, and even then usually because I ran out of regular track. Which leads to the other issue, that you currently can't buy straight track without getting even more excess flex. There's just no point to this set when when you're already forced to buy more flex than you need. I would preferred quarter-length pieces of regular straight and curved track over this, while not as flexible they would look better and eliminate most of the running issues. Also, if you built a long section of quarter-length straights it would probably be flexible enough for large-radius curves and connections that don't quite fit. Pros: Useful for tricky gaps Black/white box gives it a whiff of exclusivity More than you'll ever need Cons: More than you'll ever need Trains sometimes don't run well Looks bad Conclusion: Buy 7499 instead and get some useful straight track too

            Limited usefulness

            By Noki

            from Cherry

Comments about LEGO Functions Flexible Train Track (8867):

These are great if you need like half a regular track to complete a segment or need to make a small turn to connect regular track, but they work very poorly for long segments and when used in mass. The regular tracks are always a better choice and these are only needed when a regular track just won't fit.

                They don't stay put,no traction,expensive, UGLY!

                By PASSENGERTRAIN321

                from BROCKVILLE

Comments about LEGO Functions Flexible Train Track (8867):

one of the many trains i have is the the maersk train it works ok on this track, but basicly evey train does not cooperate when you start them up on this track, they will not move that is due to the little traction these track provide. THESE TRACKS LOOK TERRIBLE. when you put all of these together and do not seperate them they these tracks move alot.also they do not stick to a baseplate. i am dissapointed lego got RID of the old straight and curved and replaced it with this stuff. i know with straight and curved you ended up with lots of curved track but why did'nt lego just sell straight and curved seperately. I am not impressed.
