Product Description

CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.

Powerful rotation for your Power Functions! Add an extra XL-Motor to your LEGO creations! This super-strong motor will give plenty of power to your models, whether it's spinning a wheel or turning a system of gears. Use the XL-Motor to animate larger builds. Requires battery box, not included.

To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen who combed the Danish words "Leg Got" which means "play well". He later realized that LEGO in Latin translates to "I put together. The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children worldwide, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

Great product for the Technic builder!

        By mjotrainbrain

        from Grand Rapids

Comments about LEGO Power Functions XL-Motor (8882):

The LEGO Technic Power Functions XL Motor is a great product. It's power is immense and is excellent for high torque applications. I am not mean to my motors, but I have gone though three M-motors (great for light duty work) and haven't gone through my XL, which I put though much meaner tasks. If you love building trial trucks, this motor gives the torque you need to get over the obstacles. This motor is a great test for any builder, as it will find any and all flaws in your 'perfect' gearbox once you introduce some resistance. I must give a word of warning, however. If you are not careful with your gear bracings, this motor will make mincemeat of LEGO gears. Everything considered, this is a great motor and I plan to buy more in the near future.

        Really good motor

        By achintyabprasad

        from Tupelo

Comments about LEGO Power Functions XL-Motor (8882):

In general, the Lego Power Functions line of parts is a really good porduct line and idea. And fittingly, this XL-motor really fits in. The XL-motor is supposed to be for the person who needs more power than the M-motor. And true, it has more torque and has a larger carrying capacity. However, with that said, there are a few drawbacks. The cheif one is, well, the size. The M-motor is about as large as my thumb. So it is good size with the good amount of power. However, the XL-motor, is really large. It is as large as the palm of my hand. That makes it har to implement into creations. Also, it should be noted that while the XL-Motor is way more powerful than the M-motor, it appears to have a slightly slower RPM. So overall, the motor is really good, but make sure that yu have a large space to fit it in!

        Awesome Motor

        By Shockeray

        from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Power Functions XL-Motor (8882):

I have two of the XL Motors and they can run on the same batteries for atleast 4 hours. Pros; Very strong, two motors can pull 5 pounds easy with no gearing. Battery conservative, can run for hours. Easily controllable, I learned to control my tank in a few minutes. Cons; Hard to build a gearing that can take the strength of this motor. High Price, would be awesome if price was a little lower. Overall, a very nice Lego motor!

Comments about LEGO Power Functions XL-Motor (8882):

I have two of these and they will get the job done they are a little bit slower than the M-Motor, but are worth the money. these motors are on a lego tractor that i have built and plan to use it to plow snow in the winter time.

        Great Quality

        By DaPhilster39

        from Lindon

Comments about LEGO Power Functions XL-Motor (8882):

This motor is great for those bigger builds that require more torque or overall power than the medium motor. However, the motor is sort of awkward to fit into custom brick builds, because it is five studs wide, and it doesn't have any stud connectors. It only has pin connectors for technic sets. But, that shouldn't be a problem if you are building with technic pieces. According to the customer service help, you should only use three XL motors for every battery box. (I don't know what happens if you use more than that.) I also know that one rechargeable battery box lasts about 2-3 hours on one charge. I would think that the AAA battery box would be more than that. Overall, it's great for bigger builds, or especially if you get the Emerald Night (which is the best LEGO train set EVER) and overall, it is a really good quality motor.
