I love this wooden high chair for my 6 month old. I definitely needed "the infant insert" and the tray, but I did not order the bar. It takes some patience to assemble, but not complicated and then strength to tighten the allen nuts in order for the infant seat to fit snug. I double check it to make sure the seat is not slipping over this first month of use. I LOVE that this high chair becomes a stool and can hold 250 pounds. A useful, long term investment. The tray needs a plastic insert and something to prevent the liquid from hitting the infant's lap. I made a homemade plastic place mat cut to size and a tube to hold it on that my son likes to take off when I am not looking.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
