This bug vac is a neat idea and my 6 yr old paid for it with her own money. The concept is great. Vacuum up a bug, reverse the flow and blow it out into a magnified cup. The cups are neat and work well but I can't say the same for the vac itself. Ours was a little lethargic due to low voltage batteries so I (tried) to change them. Unfortunately the design team apparently took specs from a undersized Chinese battery as I could not get any American branded AA's to work. Not only are the holes too tight for the battery diameter, but the small holes for the positive side of the battery are undersized too. I tried a few brands and they were all the same. If you work at it you can get sporadic run time and even with new batteries the suction was weak and the blowing of bugs out didn't really work either. Hopefully they didn't make a 100k of them with the funky battery compartment.

Don't waste your money

By Jackie

Comments about Edu Science 14 inch Bug Vacuum with Light:

The only reason I gave this toy one star is because I couldn't give it zero! Probably the worst purchase I've ever made in the last 5y. It doesn't have any suction and is cheaply made.

My 9yo bought this for his little brother for Christmas. They were happy with it until the batteries died. You can't replace the batteries as the normal AA batteries will not work. Don't let anyone waste their money.

Comments about Edu Science 14 inch Bug Vacuum with Light:

While it is a great idea, the installed Chener batteries that are made in China, were worn out because the vacuum on button could be pressed in the packaging, and because those batteries (according to store personnel) are not expected to last a long time. This would be no problem if replacement batteries could be installed, but the vacuum will not function with them because the Chener batteries are of smaller height and diameter. Useless.

            warning: does not work

Comments about Edu Science 14 inch Bug Vacuum with Light:

we thought the first one was faulty so we brought it back to exchange it. the problem was that it died after an hour or so of my kids playing with it, no big deal i thought, let me change the batteries. well i changed then and they didnt work, i thought maybe they were bad batteries so i tried a different brand, but no luck. our second vacume had exactly the same issue! its a bad move trying to sell faulty products. they need to sell all of them to the 99cent store and bill the manufacturer!

Supplied batteries, 4 AA, "for demonstration purposes only ". Failed within hours. Quality replacement batteries do not fit in compartment properly and toy does not work. Bought three. Same for all. Returned and every other toy in store was the same. Made in China.
