Hello Strider,
We love the balance bike! It's awesome that the concept driving the first bikes, over 200 years ago, have come back for the wee tots. We have two boys, nearly five and nearly three, and both learned their two-wheeled balance on a strider. It was my vision that each kid would learn balance on the strider, and pedaling mechanics on a tricycle then the two would marry at the right time.
Theo (born Jan, 2010) got his Strider for Christmas before he turned two and walked on it for nearly 6 weeks until he had his first glide – "weeeee" he said. He tried pedals (on a 12" bicycle) at 3 yrs. 5 months, and while he could do it, he wasn't comfortable with it just yet. I borrowed the strider concept and removed the crank and pedals from that 12" bike, so that he could have a taller balance bike and so his 2 year younger brother (Owen, born Jan, 2012) could take over the strider (about 18 months). Theo transitioned onto a pedal bike at 4 years without ever experiencing the crutch of training wheels!
Owen (adept at the strider, fully six months ahead of Theo), took to the strider practically instantly!! Just two months ago, having ridden a strider for over a year, Owen was exposed to a pedal bike. At 22 months old, I put him on a 12" pedal bike, walked with him saying, "pedal-pedal-pedal little guy, just like the tricycle" and he took off! He used his handle bar balance checks and rode a pedal bike, without training wheels at under 3 years!! He can also ride Theo's 16" bike, albeit his feet are a good 6-8 inches from touching the ground, but he can RIDE it!
I've included a video compilation (it's 8 min but stick with it ;) of Owen's bike-learning year. Oh, and Owen was born with a critical congenital heart defect requiring open-heart reconstructive surgery at 10 days old. He also has an underlying neurological condition affecting the stability of his eye muscles, so while he now has glasses to correct astigmatism and myopia, he mostly only uses one eye for all his antics. He pretty much goes all-in all the time, smiling!
Thank you strider!! While there are other balance bikes on the market, I strongly feel that the design and engineering behind Strider is superior. It has the lowest minimum seat height yet extends high enough for an older toddler; with the narrower handlebar, smaller grips and light-weight frame geometry, it allows very small children to manipulate and maneuver the bike with little effort, more of a reflex than a process.
I feel it is the best balance bike on the market.

The bike works for it's intended use but materials are pretty cheap for the price you pay. For example bikes have a "headset", it's the bearings the on top and bottom of the frame where the fork goes through it. With a properly installed and adjusted headset there's no play between the frame and fork and the rotate rotates smooth and consistent. This does not have any sort of bearing for smooth operation or a way to really make it snug. It uses plastic washers as the headset bearings which was disappointing. It's not a bad bike but after seeing all the good reviews and taking the price into account I expected more. It's not a real good value

Grnadson Loves it!

By Elaine from CO

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Suzuki:

We bought this bike for our grandson's 3rd birthday. It is truly one of the best things we we could have ever given him. At first he didn't want to try it, preferring instead to stride along on his trike. He did not use the pedals on his trike, only using his feet to push himself along on the ground. Mom & Dad put away the trike for a while and it didn't take long before grandson was on the Strider bike. Now he plays on it at length everyday. Getting very good at gliding and steering. So glad we got this for him.

So Light and Easy to Manage!

By Nicole

from Casselton, ND

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Suzuki:

We got the Strider Sport for our 2-year-old son's birthday. He'd been watching his big sisters ride their bikes and wanted to ride too. He is so excited that he can keep up with the big kids now! We love that the Strider is so light and easy for him to manage. He's still in the standing and walking stage, but we can't wait to see his progress as he gets more and more comfortable with it! Our daughter used a borrowed strider a few years ago. She had been using a bike with training wheels and just wasn't getting the hang of it, but after using the strider for just a few weeks, she was pedaling on two wheels on the other bike in no time, so we are true believers that they are the best way for kids to learn to ride!

Both our boys wore out our first Strider!

By Jenelle

from Boise, ID, United States

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Suzuki:

We bought our first strider for our son back in 2008. It served us well through both of our sons. After both boys used it, we decided to send it to goodwill. They actually wore through the tires and the steering was toast as well. For our daughter's birthday this past August, despite all of the choices now for balance bikes, we decided to go with the Strider which we knew was awesome. However, she has been resistant to ride it because of the seat. It is way too hard!! Why not a little padding for her little bum? I am looking for a new seat that will fit. You only seem to have an xl. Can you direct me to a softer solution for my little lady?

This is the second Strider I have bought for grandchildren, one for each family. When my 3 yr. old grandson got a two wheeler for Christmas he was able to ride without training wheels almost immediately!

My son has been riding his Strider since he was 2! He's going to be 4 in three months and loves riding his Strider so much we just had to replace the wheels and handle bar grips because they were completely worn out. Great quality and I am very please how long these parts even lasted, since he literally rides his Strider every single day! He races twice a week at a local track, we love watching him. Thank you Strider!
