Now to give a little background of myself: I am a HUGE fan of Bionicle. In fact, I was only 3 years old when this massive theme hit LEGO stores in 2001, and Lewa was one of my very first LEGO sets. So knowing that I grew up with Lewa (and every other green Toa in the theme, mainly Lewa, though), you can obviously see that I was VERY excited to see the old Toa Mata revived. PROS: -Awesome axes that turn into swords, a good nod towards Toa Mata and Toa Nuva Lewa. -Gear functions! -Stable gear functions you can POSE WITH (a huge problem for the Toa Mata that they finally fixed) -Gliding feature -Cool looks, the new lighter green really does fit the jungle theme -The mask looks AMAZING CONS: -Gear box is placed... interestingly. It looks cool on him, like a large backpack, but the side effect is that his head is hardly able to move. But this can be simply solved by taking the silver spike (the one covering some of his back) and placing the large black peg right below the smaller black peg, then adjusting the whole gearbox down one space. His head then can be able to move a bit more, but still barely is able to look up, which is very important on the gliding feature. Overall, I think this is a pretty good set! Great playability and value for money.

I remember playing with bionicles with my oldest son when the Toa Mistika came out, and we had fun with them because each character was their own different build. Now, buying bionicles for my youngest son, I thought I would relive old memories with bionicle. All I can say is: bionicle has changed: Pros: *Stays together better *Easier to pose *Parts won't break as easy Cons: *Every build feels the same *Why aren't they called "Toa" anymore? "Master" just personally doesn't sound as interesting or appealing. *In just about every bionicle wave, the green character's element was air, but now green is jungle. (This one is minor, but it confused my son that Lewa can only control jungles but not forests or plains, for example.) Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe it isn't, but I personally feel this new wave of bionicle is too standardized and overall not as cool as older waves. I feel like you only need to buy one to buy them all.

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Lewa Master of The Jungle (70784):

The color pallet is good. It mirrors and reminds me of the colors you'd see out in the jungles. I saw those colors a lot in the pyramids in Chiapas.
The mask looks too mechanical. And the build would benefit if it had the more "tribal" feel of the 2001 lewa. It's a good set I do recommend it over pohatu

Lewa - Master of Jungle

By Saphira3231

from Taunton

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Lewa Master of The Jungle (70784):

The BIONICLE range was something i had as a child and found to be amzing because of the new complexity they offered, so when I was bought this figure a few months ago and hadn't realised that the BIONICLE series had been renewed, I was intrigued to see how they compared to the original sets The artwork on the box (and the box itself) was noticeably different to how i remembered, instead of a canister the figure is inside a rectangular sleeve-box with a lot of detailed artwork and imagery of the character and what they represent. the feel of the pieces has changed a lot too, with a distinct detail on certain armor plates and weapons as well new types of joints. some of the old parts can still be found in use, but usually with slight alterations such as the merging of parts to make a more solid piece when it comes to assembly. the overall complexity of the build for this set of characters i would say has increased in comparison to the previous origin generations, however they are still very straight forward, with the detailed insturctions. LEWA has a great overall design and certainly reflects the original set in some aspects whilst remaining a clear indication that he has moved forward from the early days. Pros - > straight forward instructions with little to get confused > parts feel more durable > fully posable Cons for this character - > the mask doesnt seem to be as secure as the original models meaning that it would likely come a few times during play > joints start off a little stiff to move, but do loosen up after a little play > movement of the Head is very restricted

Bionicle is Back

By EddieTheChronicler

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Lewa Master of The Jungle (70784):

I have always been a Bionicle Air Tribe fan, and was eager to see it's return in new Bionicle. I am very happy with the 2015 Jungle tribe- I've purchased the Lewa set and seven Jungle protectors and am very happy with them. Lewa is very poseable and fun to play with. I really like the new gearbox function, and Lewa's axe cleverly doubles as his X-Glider. HIs mask is a very sleek and awesome design and I like his chest printing. Definitely recommend.

Air or jungle?

By legodog3636

from pittsford

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Lewa Master of The Jungle (70784):

I got this along with Pohatu and built this first. This set is very good, and the flying with swords theme was taken from other Lewa figures. speaking of which, in the old Bionicle, Lewa was the toa of air, not jungle. but that's not really a flaw in the set. the axe/gliders are, as I said before, an old Lewa theme. they are also very well designed. one other thing I want to point out: like Onua, when you turn the gear, one arm moves up, and the other moves down, as opposed to one arm moving like most Toa. pros: weapon punch/swing function mask skull spider (unfortunally no tail):) cons limited head movement this set has lots of pros and little to no cons. so,

Good, but

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Lewa Master of The Jungle (70784):

I ordered Lewa as part of my growing collection of new BIONICLE sets, as i missed out on his original counterpart. This new set is a worthy successor to those old sets from 2001 when i was 8, however it's not without it's own drawbacks. Pros; the look of the character is nice, harkening back to the original bionicle while still looking new the weapons are beautiful the gear functions incorporated with the CCBS is perfect Cons; he can't look up. due to the placement of his gear box, Lewa can't look up or down, and can barely look left or right. because of this, his mask pop-off function doesn't, well, function. overall, I am happy i got this set, but i'm a bit disappointed at the designers oversight concerning the head mobility

Lewa: Master of Jungle

By Matt96theLegoMan

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Lewa Master of The Jungle (70784):

Ok, so this is my second 2015 Bionicle, and I must say that I was very pleased with Lewa. So let me get right down to business and list my pros and cons with you... Pros: -Very pose-able -Awesome lime-green coloring -Cool mask (Even though its not quite like the original look for Lewa...I personally think the mask matches him very well) -Amazing weapons -Cool gear system -Good-looking armor -Cool gold and spider masks Cons: -Head is very hard to turn without his mask coming off, or it rubbing against his shoulder pads -A little stiff -Weird unnecessary ball joints coming out of chest piece And there ya go! Those are my critiques on Lewa. Overall I really like him...I think a lot of time was put into making him. So far he's my favorite out of the two I have already!
