Amongst what might possibly the most exciting revivals of all time (along with Hostess) comes Kopaka, "Master" (I'll always know him as a Toa) of Ice. I actually got this set $5 off and two weeks before it should've come out, so I'll be the harbinger here. Alright, lets get started. Build: This was a very easy build, but no one really likes intricate builds on Bionicles as long as their simplicity comes through. Kopaka has nice ball joints on ankles, knees, hip, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and head which provide good articulaton. Speaking of simplicity, I found it interesting that the Toa were given their Mata masks instead of Nuva (or whatever else Lego could whip up). Also funny how they had the twist-the-wheel to move-the-arm thing. That was the main Technic function on the Toa Mata. I like the golden mask but Lego should tell fans more about its function and role. The skull spider is outright weird, but it's much better to have a small and petty antagonist in every set rather than none at all. It fits okay on the head of Kopaka but the large gold shoulder pads get in the way. The frost shield has four functions. The first is the shield itself as shown on the box. The second is two super boss swords that go in each hand. The third is two cool looking skis, and the fourth is one giant snowboard. If you have half a bain it'll be easy to figure out how each work. The mask falls off easier than any Bionicle I'e owned but it's not horrible. I really look forward to purchasing the giant skull spider, the Protector of Ice and the Protector of Jungle. Hope you ike my third review!

Bionicle is Back!!

By JBeast

from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Kopaka Master of Ice (70788):

I have been a huge fan of Bionicle for years and (like others I'm sure) was devastated when the line was canceled. When I heard they were returning I was very excited. Kopaka is probable my overall favorite character throughout all the years of bionicle so I wanted to get him first. (I'm writing this review some time after I got the product) I'm quite satisfied with this product except for a few things: I don't like the pop-off feature of the mask, it comes off WAY to easily. Also the gears and arm swinging function are rather annoying. I prefer to just position the arms myself. I do like the fact that the shield can be transformed into skies and/or swords. He is very easy to position in a variety of poses and is very durable for intense play! His gold mask is really cool. Overall a brilliant recreation of the Master of Ice and in many ways superior to previous versions. I'm very satisfied.

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Kopaka Master of Ice (70788):

Kopaka is Cool! Kopaka has Some awesome features. a Spear wielding Arm that actually has a Function were it can swing by turning a yellow Gear on his back is just one of his awesome features! Another feature he has is that his shield actually turns into Skis!. The other feature he has is a mask that can shoot off, so a skull spider can hop on his face and take him over. He is a pretty big figure With massive shoulder pads and Giant Boats i don't know what could make this figure better. What do i get in this set?: 1: Shield that can also be skis 2: Elemental Ice Spear 3:A moving arm using gears 4:Giant boots 5:A good variety of transparent blue pieces 6:Massive Golden shoulder Pads! 7:An awesome looking Mask 8:A skull spider Pros. The shield The skull spider The massive shoulder pads The Giant boots The mask The variety of Transparent blue pieces The moving arm (using gears) Extra Decals(Stickers) Cons. His arm that moves falls off sometimes. His mask pops of a little to easly Overall: This figure is just an enjoyable great Bionicle! set OK that's all Zang out!

Series Favorite

By RebornLegend01

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Kopaka Master of Ice (70788):

I highly anticipated the return of Bionicle, my favorite Lego theme ever. After purchasing and building each of the elemental Masters, it was clear that Kopaka, the Master of Ice, was an exceptional set. He has a great look, he is well armored, and his colors are splendid. I have heard that some prefer that he have silver accents rather than gold, but I think he would have looked dull. It was an easy build (as most Bionicle/Hero Factory sets are) so this does not hinder younger children from having fun. Lastly, Kopaka takes much inspiration from his original TOA MATA and TOA NUVA forms. I simply love this set.

Kopaka- Master of Ice

By Neptune412

from Nixa

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Kopaka Master of Ice (70788):

Kopaka is a great figure, and has quite a few new pieces. his shield is as tall as him. he's pretty cool with his avalanche skis and some people say that his ice spear is bulky and awkward, but I think it is really cool. Unfortunately after a while Kopaka's battle arm doesn't stay in the air very well, so you might want to add an extra gear for better friction. now for the pros and cons Pros: cool shield transparent limbs & hands lots of new pieces golden mask Cons: shoulder armor kind of gets in the way

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Kopaka Master of Ice (70788):

Alright so first off building this was outright fun to do waaay more complex than the original Bionicles. Overall the figure is as large as the rest of the Toa and has a wide range of articulation. Color scheme is nice. My only complaint is that the spear is somewhat lazy it's not really aesthetically pleasing (this is personal taste). The shield is a little difficult to move around with the way the shoulder pads are set up and they end up making the mask pop off sometimes. But Outside of these minor complaints, this is a GREAT figure 9/10.

Changes May Seem too Big, but Set is the Target

    By FPSGamingPro

    from Coquitlam

Comments about LEGO Bionicle Kopaka Master of Ice (70788):

Kopaka has gone through some changes from his previous incarnations, and note the old Kopaka is not the same character as the new. Honestly, Kopaka has become wider, and more covered front and back. His color scheme now has a large amount of translucent-light blue and gold despite white still being the main/dominant color. Even though the change is an adjustment, you can easily develop into his new character. The set looks very nice even from all angles, though the back should have had more armor. The legs are well armored, and I like their new style of armoring the back and front together with Stormer XL connectors. The head is the most similar to our old Kopaka. The weapon is now a spear which somehow resembles the Nuva blades, but the shield is quite different. I like the look, but their should have been a way to cover the empty space considering there are a lot. I like the ski function like the old Nuva incarnation. His main torso is decent, but his back needs some more coverage. Overall, I Kopaka is my favorite as far as looks, but the gears and Hero Factory Paws get in the way when the function works. His playability is not affected by the small mistake and he seems very sturdy. I would have preferred bigger feet like Stormer XL feet, and the large body like Rocka XL's torso. All in all, still a great set, though there are some very minor and picky flaws. I would suggest purchasing this set first, considering it is a popular one.
