Join Art In History and explore the Qin (pronounced "Chin") Dynasty, and the discovery of the Terra Cotta Warriors.

China, one of the world's most culturally rich countries was ruled by various dynasties over thousands of years. The Qin Dynasty came to power around 221 B.C. under Qin Shi Huangdi which translated means "First Emperor of China". The name China comes from the name Qin (pronounced "chin").

At the time, the Qin Dynasty was one of the largest and strongest empires in the world. It was located in what is today the eastern and central part of China. The capital was the city of Xianyang, near the modern day city of Xian.

On March 29, 1974 while some local farmers were digging a new well, they discovered the tomb complex of Qin Shi Huangdi and the thousands of Terra Cotta warriors contained in nearly 600 pits. Our replica is of a general located in Pit #2.

Replicate the Terra Cotta Warrior today and let the learning begin!
