Not What Was Expected
Wii U works great. My son loves it. Would have been better if we were shipped the Mario U bundle we were expecting and not the Nintendoland/Super Mario world bundle we received.

It is an amazing game

My grand children play when they visit. There is always something on the wii u to keep them intrigued. They never want to put it down.
Nintendo still kicking
from Rockford, il
Wii u is a great product, plug and play right out of the box. With a family of 6 it's nice to finally be able to have everyone play at the same time. The only downside to the wii u is when the wands unsync. Very frustrating for the kiddos when the game stops because a wand quit working. Have the 32g edition, a little disappointed the games were "preloaded" onto system. Takes up memory that could have been used to download movies, and games from nintendo store.

We absolutely LOVE this game system!! Fun, family oriented and a great way to get moving!!! The only thing I don't like is the need for 2 controllers for 1 person on certain games.

Finally upgraded to Wii U

About Me Frequent Player
My boys, game system experts, love the Wii U. They say speed and graphics are better than original Wii. They love the fact you can keep playing without TV, even 2 players. Nice that you can connect original wii controllers to Wii U as long as they are the motion plus.

Outdated, buggy, cheap console
from Davis, CA
Worst features and technology of all the current generation of consoles. The hardware is so cheap and outdated that it wasn't even impressive when the console was originally released. The gamepad's display is very low-res, yet in spite of that compromise, it still only has a 3 hour battery life. The console quality control is also poor. About 75% of the time, my console fails to boot. It just turns on but gives no signal and doesn't spin up the disc, forcing you to hard reset. One time I actually had to unplug it to get it to turn off.The software is nothing to write home about, but unlike the hardware, at least it works...sometimes. I had to reconfigure my home router just so the console would connect to the internet. As with the original Wii, the error codes are useless and I had to spend two hours changing various settings in a trial-and-error fashion. It turned out that the console does not support the 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency, but this is not stated anywhere in the documentation. When it finally connected, the initial software update took literally two hours on my 100mbps internet connection. What year is this? Are we in 2005? Nintendo seems to think so.The apps are pointless if you have a set-top box or TV from this decade. There is pretty much no reason to use any of the apps if you have any other decent electronics. The web browser is painfully slow, fails on many pages, and has way too many pop-ups. I have a $50 Android tablet in the living room that I use instead; it's faster and works better.I bought this console solely to play Smash Bros, which is an excellent game. I have no interest in the other games. My recommendation is that if you have a friend who already has Smash Bros and this console, instead of wasting your money on this obsolete piece of garbage, just go play the game at their house. You will save a lot of time, money, and headache.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
