Encounter on Jakku is a pretty nice set. The minifigures are very good, the builds... We'll get to that. Minifigures: Rey- Rey is the same version we got in the most recent Millenium Falcon and Rey's Speeder(but without the headwrap) but this makes sense. Also, I didn't get either of these sets, so it was nice to get this great minifigure. BB-8- The same one in the Force Awakens sets, and my second one, but a good addition to the set. Teedo- This is a very well-made figure and very accurate to the movie. Short legs would have been more accurate, but the normal legs are understandable because he can sit on the luggabeast, which I'll get to later. He has an excellent two-colored headpiece and nice printing on the torso and legs. -Unkar Plutt Plutt is arguably the best figure in the set. He has a very nice headpiece that fits over his torso, which is plain(Understandably). The print on the head is very nice, and it includes some nice yellow stripes that continue onto the legs. They really nailed that blobfish look to him. Now, onto the builds: -Luggabeast The luggabeast is an excellent build, with 4 new molds for the legs. The inverted 4 by 4 round tiles have very nice prints for the eyes, and there is a lot of clever greebling around the whole thing, including two roller skate pieces on the front of the head. The medium azure color for the bluish-grey part is okay, but I personally would have gone for more of a sand blue. Overall the better build of the set. -Unkar Plutt's shack This building is kind of accurate to the movie. It includes a flexible plastic flap for part of the roof. There is a window where Plutt gives his patrons portions, like in the movie. Unfortunately, no actual portions are included in the set, but there is a safe with some gold coins. There is a somewhat pointless feature with a secret hiding spot for a blaster in the steps, which I feel like was thrown in because there weren't enough action features. Overall, this was a pretty good set. The main build was a bit less than mediocre, but everything else was great. What would have been cool to see instead, however, would be a playset with a ship graveyard like in the movie, perhaps with a destroyed TIE fighter or X-wing, or a medium-sized fallen AT-AT that Rey lives in or possibly just part of it, which would include the luggabeast and Teedo, for the same price. Speaking of price, however, the price for this set was a bit steep, but that is expected with a Star Wars set. But overall it is a decent set with good minifigures and a good build.

The set is pretty solid, what you see is what you get. No play features besides a hidden gun. You only get two new exclusive minifigures, which is disappointing, granted how many unique cool creatures are in the actual scene from the movie. I would have loved to see this set for $80, which would give us a larger outpost and more minifigures. You also have to get the other sets to make the scene complete in my opinion. The best lego sets are able to stand alone, but this one makes me feel that you also need the Millennium Falcon to ge finn and rey's speeder for the unkarr thug minifigure.

    please hear this, lego

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Encounter on Jakku™ (75148):

the reason I got this set was for unkar teedo and the luggebeast. They were OK but the real disappointment was unkar's stand. it can barely hold one character. I don't want to keep purchasing big sets like this just for a few alien minifigures. I think lego should make star wars alien battle packs or something cheap that contains some alien background characters. I hope you please consider this

    Not bad LEGO set

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Encounter on Jakku™ (75148):

This was an okay set, and the two alien minifigures Unkar Plutt & Teedo are very detailed. The Luggabeast was cool, albeit too colourful. The Niima Outpost seemed too small to be film accurate. I wish TLG gave us a Constable Zuvio, Bobbajo, Athgar Heece or Sarco Plank minifigure instead of Rey & BB-8. Now that would of been cool!

I actually bought this set to get the Rey and BB-8 figures. I was pleasantly surprised though in the build. I had a really good time building this one. It was not too complex but had some fun elements - loved the hidden drawer! My seven year old daughter has been playing with the set since I built it and reenacting all the Star Wars scenes with it. If you're on the fence, just buy this set!

Great build and incredible display piece

    By Simonjc

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Encounter on Jakku™ (75148):

I knew this was a day one purchase from when LEGO first released the set images. The luggabeast appeared perfectly represented and niima outpost so cleverly detailed for what is a medium-sized set. BUILD The build is split in between the two main components: the luggabeast first followed by niima outpost. Although the l-beast uses moulded legs, there is a surprising number of clever building techniques, using brackets and plates blended seemlessly with bricks. The result is a fantastic representation to the movie, and will leave most builders of any level with a few new tricks up their sleeve. These techniques are most transferable to themes such as space, vehicles and sculptures. Niima outpost is again littered with techniques throughout, and demonstrates how a location or building can be well-represented with relatively few bricks. The sail is a great touch, and really makes the outpost a perfect model for display. PLAY Both the l-beast and the outpost are full of playalibity. The l-beasts legs a movable and the outpost can be displayed in several ways with a few clever functions built into the design. OVERALL Encounter on jakku is a truly enjoyable set; the build had me smiling throughout, and it will be some time before I can bring myself to disassemble either the beast or the outpost. This set shows once again what can be achieved, both aesthetically and functionally, with thoughtful building and clever techniques. For me, this is where LEGO surpasses all other building systems. If you enjoy Star Wars, Lego, Star Wars Lego, and good times, then I highly recommend encounter on jakku.

I think this is a great set in general but is priced a little too high. I also Think Finn and a storm trooper would be a good add to the mix. but that is all i have to say. Plus reys speeder would go good with this.

The hut was very small the set only had three people and luggabeast is way smaller than he looks in the photos. And tedo does not have short legs which is highly annoying but I love how there are no stickers. It is way overpriced.

More a display piece than a play experience….

    By pilapants

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Encounter on Jakku™ (75148):

I am one of the older generation of Lego builders so have grown fussy with age as to what I expect from Lego. This is a very small set which has limited play experience. My observations are : 1. The Luggabeast has limited movement both in its head and legs. Much has been written about the bright colours used by Lego and I agree, it simply looks wrong. Such a bright blue does not really provide the worn and rough look you see in the film. I appreciate for such a small set you are not going to get ample movements but the Luggabeast comes across as a little boring to play with and more something to show on display with your other Lego sets. 2. The 4 figures (if you include BB8) are OK - Unkar Plutt and Teedo are nice additions albeit the mould on Plutt means the head does not move. 3. As with many Star Wars sets the price is very high for what you get. There is no doubt the set enhances the Force Awakens sets that came out last year but given its size and limited playing capability I think kids will quickly move on to something else. Hopefully Lego remember us older ones and bring out a large BB8 to build or as so many rumours suggest, a UCS Death Star or an updated cloud city.
