Product Description

Protect your baby from every angle with the UltraMax™ Air360 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat. The UltraMax Air360 is the only 4-in-1 Car Seat that features 360 Protect™ for 6 layers of proven safety, and it's the only car seat you'll need to buy for your baby as it adapts to keep them safe through four different stages of development. Rear-facing babies stay safely snug, starting at a tiny 4 pounds with special inserts to give them a better fit. Removing the inserts, toddlers can ride comfortably in the safer rear-facing position up to 50 pounds. Once forward-facing, the 5-point harness keeps children securely in the seat up to 65 pounds. When your older child is ready, the UltraMax can be used as a belt-positioning booster for longer than most seats: up to 120 pounds. Through all of these stages, enhanced features provide exceptional protection while on the road with 6 layers of safety. The Air Protect® cushioning system provides immediate crash protection with the most advanced side impact energy management system available. GCell HX™ further displaces crash energy around the child's torso. The steel reinforced frame adds stability to the seat. A deep seat structure helps shield your child, keeping your little one cozy and contained. Soft foam, used throughout the seat makes a comfortable first contact in every touchable location. The motion control headrest contains movement and easily adjusts to 10 different heights, ensuring that you can give your child the best fit for the best protection as they grow.

This really is the Cadillac of car seats! There are so many added features and luxuries for this seat, beyond the safety ratings, including strap protectors that come with the seat – meaning they have been tested and approved for use and do not negate the safety of the child.
We are an extended rear-facing family and I really enjoyed that the height and weight limits are so robust for rear-facing. It has been mentioned already that this seat, because of all the amazing features, is slightly bulky. Because of this, it only fit rear-facing in our full sized sedan, but the LATCH installation was relatively easy.
My daughter enjoys that there are 2 cup holders, and I enjoy that the cup holders are so easy to remove and clean. I noticed on our most recent longer trip, my daughter fell asleep and her head did not fall forward in this seat, it was cradled by the motion control headrest!
A few items that I did notice, in comparing this seat to the model we have in our smaller car:
Although there are 4 slots to adjust the lower buckle, it cannot be extended beyond the first 2 slots for rear-facing, meaning that the buckle is harder to access for my extended rear-facing toddler, who may be able better fitted with it on slot 3. As I mentioned above, my daughter likes to climb into her seat herself, and even though I try to make sure that the buckle is reaching as far forward as possible before she climbs in to help alleviate this issue it has disappeared between her legs and requires me to fish out to buckle from under her bottom to secure her into the seat.
My husband has had some issues when tightening the straps because the path for the shoulder straps can get caught on a hook on the backside of the hard plastic outer shell, the straps will not move until you physically reach around to the backside of the plastic shell and free the strap from the hook.
Finally, I could not find a place to secure the manual to the seat.
We love this seat and will for yrs to come

This seat looks gorgeous and sturdy. We loved it first sight, but that's where it ended for us. Our son is a little over a year old, so he's still rear-facing. Installation was a lot of trial and error. It wouldn't fit into my husbands compact car (Acura), so we tried it in my small SUV (Honda CR-V). Luckily CR-V's have unique features in which you can adjust the back seat forward/backward, and recline the seat backs individually. While installing the UltraMax™ Air, we had to recline the car's seat back and push the seat base back towards the trunk area. Then we had to adjust the front passenger seat forward and more upright. This finally allowed enough space for us to install the carseat and recline it to the suggested position for a rear-facing child. Once installed we tested for a week and learned the following:
1. One strap on the carseat tightens more than the other, so the strap on the right side is always looser than the left. Not safe.
2. It's installed behind the front passenger seat, and we noticed almost immediately upon driving that the height of the carseat interferes with the drivers view, therefore making the back/right window a complete blindspot for the driver. Not safe.
3. Because we had to recline our car's seat backwards in order to install the UltraMax™ Air, we can no longer utilize his baby mirror attached to the headrest. In addition, the height of the carseat itself interferes with the view from the driver's rearview mirror. Not ideal.
4. The SIP pads look safe, but are too big. It reduces the amount of space to get the child in/out of the car seat from the door of the car. We have to be extra careful not to hit our son's head on the door frame. Not ideal.
5. The crotch and chest buckles are difficult to unbuckle. The crotch buckle doesn't release both latches at the same time. You have to finagle one side, then the other. The chest buckle does not slide easily for release. Not safe in cases of emergency.

Comments about Safety 1st UltraMax Air 360 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat - Aqua Mist:

I upgraded from my previous Britax Pavilion convertible car seats to two UltraMax Air 360 car seats for my twin 4 year old daughters (now about 40 lbs each) thanks to Safety 1st. I LOVE them! They were very easy to install and as soon as my girls got into them, they said "Ooh, this is so comfy," and "I love it!"

There are two main things I'm especially thrilled with. 1) The car seat itself just feels safe, unbreakable and really secure (but it's not rigid). The side headrests on my Britax car seat were like a Styrofoam material and the side by the head actually broke on one of them. We also had to replace the chest pads and clips twice. I feel like my girls are protected in this seat and as a bonus they have more room.
    2) It's very mom-friendly. I am (perhaps overly) obsessed with the two cup holders. It drove me nuts that my girls couldn't reach their drinks before, and my husband and I were constantly reaching back to hand them stuff. Now they each have one for a drink and another for snacks/small toys. And finally, we just took a beach vacation and put the new seats through the ultimate test – a long road trip plus wet bathing suits and sand! Clean up was a breeze. The seats were easily removed and thrown into the washing machine and the cup holders went right into dishwasher.

Comments about Safety 1st UltraMax Air 360 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat - Aqua Mist:

This a large solid car seat. If you use it for infants, it takes up a lot of room while it is reclined. A leveling bubble would be a nice feature to add in the future as well as a latch belt that works with buttons instead of hooks. Overall though, I feel your child is super safe in any position you put them in, and it seems very comfy as well. Nice to be able to keep one car seat through various stages.

We are currently using the seat as a 2nd convertible car seat for our 14 month old. Compared to our other convertible it is much larger. While it fits in my suv we can't use it as a rear facing seat in my husbands sedan bc it is so large so that is challenging. Having also used an infant car seat that has the ability to click in and out of a base and click into a stroller I would be hesitant to use this with an infant. For cost saving purposes it is obviously great as we have spent over 500 dollars between our bucket and convertible car seats but for convenience and size purposes I would have a difficult time recommending this product

Comments about Safety 1st UltraMax Air 360 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat - Aqua Mist:

The UltraMax seems like an extremely safe carseat and I think it will work well for my 3 year old daughter now and when she needs a booster. The design is a little bulky and seems to take up a lot of room in the back of my SUV (Toyota Highlander.) I had to move the passenger seat up so that she'd have enough leg room (forward facing position.)
For the installation, I did the positioning and realized that the buckle needed to be adjusted again so I have to take it out completely in order to make that adjustment which is a bit of a pain. It would be nice if you could adjust that when it's already installed. It was a little difficult to install the lapbelt, there doesn't appear to be a clear path and the car buckle kept catching on the inside of the seat. If there was a path surrounded by plastic, I think that would make that process easier.
My daughter thought the seat was roomy and comfortable and she loved the two cupholders.
It is definitely heavier than any of the other carseats we've had and I don't see us ever traveling with it in the airport because of the weight.
Overall I like the UltraMax as a seat that my daughter can grow into. It is well constructed and I definitely feel like it's one of the safest carseats on the market.

I love that this car seat will accommodate my child from infancy through grade school! Of all the car seats we've owned this one is hands down the easiest to adjust as my child grows. It seems really plush and cozy and I have no doubt that my child is incredibly secure. One less star because the clip across the chest and the latch clips are both a littl flimsy. Gator clips and a better chest clip would have resulted in 5 stars.

I love how sturdy this car seat is and all the padding that cradles my child. The head supports give me peace of mind and provide my daughter with cushion to rest her head. What I would improve is the strap attachment from the back of the car seat to the vehicle seat to attach back to the cars seat to provide more security. I also would like to see better improvement when the vehicle seat belt attaches to the car seat where it does not slip as easily. Overall I use and highly recommend this car seat.

As a dad of four little ones, I'm always looking for improvements and versatility in any new product I buy for my youngest (as opposed to the many hand-me-downs she inherits). Despite the many safety components built in, this car seat is lightweight, plush, and most important to me, versatile. My 2 y/o daughter immediately described it as "cozy" and was excited to have cupholders. I'm most excited to have a car seat that will transition with her through each phase of her car seat years. Installation was very easy.

This is a great product. The construction of this car seat is absolutely great it is very solid and offers great protection. This seat has numerous different adjustments to work with any size and age child. All adjustments are very easy to use and access. Installation was not difficult and the instruction manual made it that much easier. The only con that I would say about it is if you have a small car it can take some getting used to putting your child in and out. This is because of the size of the side bolsters, but I wouldn't give up the protection to make it easier for us. Once we figured out the best way to put our child in and out there were no issues. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
