Diagnosed with cancer shortly before her first birthday, Alexandra “Alex” Scott was inspired to help kids like her who were bravely battling this disease. At the age of four, she hosted her first lemonade stand to raise money for pediatric cancer research, proving that kids are never too young to make a difference. Before losing her battle at the age of eight, Alex raised $1 million to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Alex's parents, Liz and Jay Scott, formally established Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) in 2005, continuing her dream to find a cure. In honor of Alex, kids and families continue to #Stir4ACure by hosting lemonade stands across the country. To date, Alex's legacy has raised more than $100 million.
For the fifth consecutive year, Toys''R''Us is partnering with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer through its #Stir4ACure initiative. Customers can support the cause by making a monetary donation at Toys''R''Us and Babies''R''Us stores nationwide, or by spreading the word about ALSF on social media using #Stir4ACure and @Toysrus.
Since the partnership began in 2011, donations from customers, Toys''R''Us, Inc. and the Toys''R''Us Children's Fund have provided more than $8.5 million to help ALSF fund pediatric cancer research and support families affected by cancer.
