Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have been waiting for a set like this! Fantastic build, amazing functions. Very happy with the product. Minor critiques- as stated before- some (possibly unavoidable) wiggle in some areas, and as a flight nerd- following the instructions puts the blades in negative pitch, and pulling the collective up all the way barely gets it to neutral pitch meaning this would not fly! I was able to modify fairly easily to a more correct pitch range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Technic set ever As someone that has only been out of my "dark age" for just over six years, I will say this set is my all-time favorite, so far, anyway. I have however had the pleasure of building over 600 official LEGO sets both System and Technic so I don't use the term "best" lightly, although I have never built one of the Supercars, I have built the Land Rover. This build is quite challenging, definitely need to pay attention and it never seems boring or repetitive. To much good stuff to write it all down and the few minor shortcomings I can live with, like the saggy tail section, side doors move around to easy and I think it would have been nice if the front landing gear pivoted to steer easier. Anyway super great set, Technic as it should be although I would not recommend this set for a beginner. Definitely my favorite set ever and I look forward to changing that thought in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Technic Build As a retired Army officer and helicopter pilot, I couldn't wait to try this build. It was very fun to build. I made a mistake along the way, so when I finished the winch would not work. I had to de-construct it down to the second section and start over because the gears are all in the core of the helicopter. It was fun to build a second time and after the second time everything worked fine. I agree with some reviews that point out the retractable landing gear does not hold up very well. It does hold up satisfactorily for display. I don't think rigidity of the tail boom is a big deal. It is well secured, so I feel no worry that it will fall off during play. I know Technic models are not completely true to life, but I would have liked for them to put a windshield in so it looked a little more realistic. All in all it is a great build. It is great to help kids (big and little) understand the workings of a helicopter. The cyclics and collectives do move the swashplate realistically, though not very pronounced. I look forward to showing it to my grandkids to play with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super cool Set!!! But there's one thing.... The set is awesome, but I'm giving it 4 stars because the tail section bends down a bit, i think they could've reinforced the tail section a bit. But anyways, the set is AWESOME!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for young builders to learn technic I originally got this for me, but then let my 6 year old son build it. It took him about 2 weeks to do it, but I had to go in and help rebuild some parts to get the motors to work. I ended up wanting home to build it so he can learn about gears and motors which honestly worked. I recommend getting this for younger builders if they have done technic before which my son has done 6 other medium sized technic builds. It is a great introduction to motorized functions in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning show piece (written by my teen son) When I first saw this set as coming soon, I knew right away I had to get it. I was surprised at the size of the box and the fact that the three functions were powered by only one large motor. I spent a little over 8 hours building it,(split between two days), and was thrilled at how well it worked. As another reviewer mentioned there are a few steps in which you must take utmost caution when assembling. I myself had a few minor hiccups along the way that I caught just in time. 2 small flaws were that the two back wheels were bending under the weight of the copter, thus flexing some beams and rods that supported them. I flipped the wheels to the inside to fix the problem, which does raise the problem of having to flip the wheels out to allow the motor to lift the landing gear. Also, I noticed that the back section holding the rotor beam is a little bit unsteady, besides that, it is a great build. Because of its weight, it is a little difficult for play, but it makes a really nice display piece that is easy to operate. Overall fantastic build and I hope to see more motorized sets like this in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly Complex and Great Show Piece From bag 1 to 5 the build was amazing. I’m absolutely in love with the entire experience. I’ll start with the building time, which took roughly 8~ hours. (Split between two days.) bags 1-3 took the most time, having to gear and build the main parts of the rotor was the hardest and most time consuming. I highly recommend any builders take their time, missing a piece with something so complicated could end disastrously. I also think the building (and understanding) of the complicated internals of a helicopter is something to savor. The finished product (like mentioned by many others) is huge and heavy. Swooshing is pretty fun, but there’s a lack of places to hold. (With the weight I don’t feel safe swinging it around by the tail.) The winch, wheels, and rotors spinning and working with the motor makes “flying” the beast a blast. My biggest complaint would be the lack of yellow pieces. I would’ve loved a more “rescue” orientated livery, the white and red is a little plain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Technic of All Time? Wow. This set is incredible. It’s incredible how engineered this set is. Definitely a difficult build, and you really have to pay attention to the details, but such a satisfying one. Looking at the comparison between the model and the real thing, I would say that it doesn’t look a whole lot like it, but it’s simply neat to have a functional lego helicopter. In all, I would say this is an incredibly fun set, both to build and to play with. The motors make the whole thing feel alive. Thank you lego for another wonderful lego model!
