If I have a 12 month old baby and I give them a tube of TOXIC commercial grade glue that HAS dried to chew on OR I give them a Melissa and Doug Shape Sorter is there any difference? Any answers? Well......? It's NO! The top and bottom of this shape sorter are made of a wood product called PlyWood, which is made by Using a Commercial grade glue and fixing 4-5 pieces together creating the PlyWood. Now it's "safe" because it is fully cured but would you let your 12 month old chew on dry glue? Me either....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made sturdy wooden colorful toy Nicely made product. My four year old grandchild likes it. I like the way the shapes match the colors - very helpful. I looked for a circle shape but there is none. You could take out one of the difficult shapes and replace it with a circle. My one year old twin grandkids would be able to insert a circle shape - they cannot at this time do more pointed shapes. I will play with this with my grandchildren for at least four years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toy to grow with baby. This was a gift for a 12 month old. So far, she loves to put all the shapes into the hole at the top (the plastic plug can be removed) and dump them all out. She also loves to turn it sideways and roll the cylinder all over the place. She has also been seen chewing on some of the blocks. I love it that as she gets older she'll learn to sort the colors and shapes. Until then, she still gets a lot of play.

And now that he is two he will go and pick it out of his toy box and ask me to take the blocks out so he can play. He says the colors as he matches them to the corresponding shapes. My mom loves watching him play with this toy she has bought 3 more to give as gifts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed over time We bought this for our son. He loved this toy and still plays with it regularly. I would give the concept 5 stars. However, after 3 months the woodblocks have begun to chip leaving rough splintered edges. We have had to throw away 3 blocks already. The diamond and stars have been the most problematic. We chose wood over plastic for long-term use. Disappointed in this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great toy! Purchased this for my neice. My daughter has a similar one she likes but this one is much better with more shapes and colors, a lid that stays on, and the whole thing rolls! I wish I had known about this before and bought it instead!
