Love Melissa and Doug, but this one has some flaws
Absolutely love Melissa and Doug toys, and we have many. We were given this tool boxas a gift and just loved it. However, the bolts as well as the hammer have fallen apart. I have had to repair them all (ready enough with some wood glue, just wish it wouldn't happen. We have a plan toys wooden hammer that we've had longer and has seen more use and abuse and is still in one piece. I have seen other reviews about the bolts and hammer and hope it's something being looked into. If you purchase, might be good to have some wood glue on hand. It's a fabulous toy and our son loves it, when it's not in mom Mcstuffins clinic for repairs....

My son is a proud carpenter!
My son loves loves loves this! He was interested in this toy from day one, and he still is (even more so) two years later! His father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle (as well as great uncles and great grand uncles) are carpenters. He is so proud to go out to the garage with his Dad and have a toolbox of his own. The toy is very challenging for young children, but it promotes family interaction which I am always for! Get a little bit older, and he/she can do it on their own!!! Wonderful! The box could be a little bigger to fit projects they are "working on" into their box to carry along.

Purchased tool kit for our 13 month old Grandson.He likes to stick his fingers in holes. Tool kit holes are much safer. Learning hand/eye coordination, how to grip, grasp and utilize the hammer, wrench & screwdriver. Melissa & Doug are the industry standard for Girl & Boy powered toys. Children need time to use their imaginations while discovering their ABBA FATHER gifts, talents & abilities. What better way exists than toys that inspire? Intentional, present in the moment, time playing together as our Grandson desires. Best investment ever!!!

Mobile and portable - Maneuverable
Great to transport fun to Grandma's and Grandpa's where they can, and will surely be put to good use for imaginative and problem solving play, regardless of age, because of their versatility and durability. The only thing that could make it better would be a canvas case in which to carry it, to prevent transport spills. Able to be monogrammed would be even better to increase personalization potential. who doesn't love building and using tools? Isn't that what children learn about what humans do?

THIS TAKE ALONG TOOL KIT WOODEN TOY WAS A GIFT GIVEN TO MY LITTLE GREAT GRANDSON AS A SPECIAL PRESENT TO " WORK WITH HIS DADDY, WHOM HE ADORES AND IMITATES. SO NOW HE HAS HIS OWN LITTLE TOOL KIT....SO FAR, I HAVE LEARNED THAT BOTH FATHER AND SON ARE ENJOYING "WORKING' TOGETHER VERY, VERY MUCH.....I HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD OF ANY BROKEN PARTS .....LIKE SOME OF THE REVIEWS I HAVE READ.....AND I DO EXPECT THAT THIS KIT WILL LAST FOR A LONG HAPPY SPECIAL TIME AS THEY "WORK" TOGETHER.

Handy Manny Substitute
My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves watching Handy Manny. We searched high and low for a good tool set for her to play with. What we found were either cheaply made or expensive. This tool set is great and my daughter plays with it every day trying to fix things around the house. She sings Handy Manny while she's doing it too. I can't recommend this set enough for those that are looking for an entertaining tool set for a 2-3 year old which is built to last and of great value.

Sturdy but difficult for children and adults to actually screw the pegs into the carrier. Had to return the item.

I love this tool kit!
My son received this as a gift last year & he plays with it all the time. Now that my daughter is walking around she plays with it as well. They share the pieces together & play individually as well. I am going to buy a 2nd set for them so they can each have their own tool box. The 1st set is still going strong & none of the pieces have broken, I cannot say that about many of their other toys. I am very happy with this set. It was a great gift!
