Good castle with realistic features
This castle is very fun, and it is also fairly easy to build. I got this and finished it in a day or two; a good build time for a large-ish lego set. What I really enjoy about this, is that it has multiple fun play features for kids, like a working drawbridge, a medieval sort of prison/dungeon break, turntable water wheel, a mechanism to hammer a sword in the blacksmith shop (those two were actually connected), and a way to put all of them together and create a castle wall. I have not constructed the other versions of the castle, so I can’t say anything about those, but I might give some more reviews about them soon. Overall, this set was pretty fun and cool to have.

What LEGO does best
When I was a kid, I received the first [yellow] LEGO castle and it's probably the only toy I remember from that time because it was so great. Now with a daughter of my own, thought she would like this, especially with her interest in medieval themes and fantasy.
So got this and she LOVES it! The build and the main model. She also built the IDEAS Blacksmith, but like this more. They both go nicely together if you build up the Castle a bit, that is, elevate it.
Only nitpick is the stability while lifting/moving it, mainly because of the fold-out feature. Recommend moving it with a baseplate.
The footprint is just inside 32x32 which is very convenient for modding/moccing.

Magical set
Bought this set because the 3 in 1 is epic and it's a sweet castle. Got it in the mail and it looked really cool. Decided to take it up to my Dad since he is into medieval themes to take his mind off of things after heart surgery while recovering. This was his first Lego kit and the joy that I got to see after he completed it was a pretty proud moment for us both. He stole my castle but this kit will always be special because now we have a cool hobby in common because of it. After close inspection of the set the details are amazing. He was excited to show off the moving drawbridge, working anvil, waterwheel, dragon, jail, well, mouse, and so many other details. This set is a 6/5 star set. The thought and details really inspire the imagination. Thank you Lego!

Return to Classic Castle
Being a Classic Castle fan and having many of the early and mid 80's sets, I knew this one looked like a good throwback style set. I build the original black falcons fortress in anticipation of this set. I am delighted with this set, and it seems like a new version of the old style of Lego that captured my imagination as a kid. The build is simple compared to many sets I build, but it's perfect; this is a set for kids, with a lot of playability. Really nice set and I hope that we get a classic castle range or more of these types of sets!

Super Fun and Easy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never owned a Lego set before and have always wanted one. This Medieval Castle is absolutely amazing! It's a super fun build and so incredibly easy. The step by step guides included are so simple to follow! All of the pieces come pre-sorted in individually labeled bags 1-7 which makes it even easier to assemble. You just open Bag 1, follow the directions in the book for assembly for that particular bag and keep moving effortlessly along! I've been working on this for a couple of hours and am over half way through. Just be sure that you've got someplace to store the pieces after the bag is open, as they are not resealable. I love that this is a 3-in-1 kit and am able to disassemble the castle and make 2 other things like the lookout tower! It's like having my own Medieval Faire right here on my desktop!

Awesome set
I always wanted to have a large lego castle when I was a kid and I finally had an excuse to buy it for my kids. I was very impressed/nicely surprised by the castle. It has many nice details, although not as many as 'adult sets'. The only bad thing is that it has just 3 mini figures. 5 would be better. I think it would be natural to have a merchant for the fruit/bread stand and one lord or lady for the fancy room. But it is still a great set.

Best thing: We can play with it.
Worst thing: We lost the mouse for it.

Great set for kids and grownups
My 5-year-old picked this set out for me for my birthday and it was such a joy to put together. I knew little about the set and loved the little surprises during the build. My son has been playing with the set for hours and are so many different creatures and minifigs, there is no shortage of stories to imagine.

Lego-Medieval Castle
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There is such detail in this castle, it is amazing. Also it’s is a 3 in 1 so a great deal. My 16 year old son loves to build intricate Lego sets and this one did not disappoint. It took him three days to get it how he liked and all the moving parts like the draw bridge are just great.
