One of the coolest sets!
I am very impressed with this R2-D2 set. Having been somewhat disappointed in the sizes of the Star Wars helmet series, the size of R2 was much better than expected. A few things that would have improved the set would have been wheels (so you could roll R2 around improving the playability), having the "head" actually attach to the body but still able to rotate 360 degrees, and curved/rounded pieces to build a more domed-shaped "head". Overall, this one ranks in the top 3 Star Wars sets I have.

Beautiful to display, nightmare to handle
I love LEGO and I'm a big Star Wars fan. This set was like the perfect combo of both worlds. The set looks gorgeous in my studio, however I don't think I will ever move it. It is very flimsy and the side panels are a pain to fix. I had to go back to bag 2 to readjust everything.
And no, I didn't make a mistake. The side panels "hang" with pins which are attached to small plates. They detach VERY easily from the large plates. Very painful to fix and they can easily get loose with minimum manipulation. I don't think this was the best design in terms of sturdiness. The play features are there to be used but I'm not taking the risk. It will stay in my shelf forever.

I think the set sacrifices a bit too much aesthetically in order to cram in play features. For example, the head loses some symmetry for the lightsaber compartment and there are two levers that awkwardly jut out the back to open the front hatches. Overall, it's great to look at, but as an Ultimate Collectors Series set, it's primarily a display piece, and I would rather it look good than be filled with play features.

Coolest LEGO set I've ever owned!
I'm sure the biggest reason for my joy with the set is due to how much I love Star Wars, but it really was a cool build. The attention to detail and the engineering that went into this thing are super impressive. The one thing that felt slightly disappointing was how to reveal Luke's lightsaber hilt, which is just by prying off the hidden door on top of R2's head, whereas all the other hidden features have cool hidden doors or such (that don't need to be completely removed), but I still love it. 5 LEGO bricks and two thumbs up!

Great minus one thing
My husband and I enjoyed building this R2-D2 as our first project of Lego! Super fun build but after it was finished the feet are a little wonky and the middle leg/foot doesn’t always come out smoothly or lay flat. A little finesse is needed to get they to lay flat. Other than that we enjoyed it.

This IS the Droid You're Looking For!
The descriptors "cute" and "coolest build ever" both apply. I had so much fun building R2. When my 70+ dad saw him he immediately invited himself to the table to join in on the build. When we finished, my husband immediately invited him into his office for display...he is only ON LOAN!!! Thanks Lego for creating such a fun and nostalgic build. Challenging but oh so rewarding!!!!

Very challenging build that is left unstable
I was so excited to get this set for my wife. I knew she hadn't built anything this large but she loves Star Wars and R2-D2. Little did I know this would just create negative energy.
It was very challenging for her to build and some pieces were quite difficult to put together.
We only had 1 missing piece which was great, except it was the sticker, and Lego couldn't send me one.
I got the message, "The LEGO® bricks listed below were more popular than we expected."
My wife is very disappointed that it's finished but will never be complete.
This thing also can fall apart quite easily, I don't recommend this set for children.

Amazing set
This is an amazing set, it’s a pretty good size, has very cool features, and it’s just R2. I do want to say that this is probably not the best set for a beginner. However, if you are somewhat experienced you should definitely pick this up. Overall a very cool set.
